My partner wanted an ube cake for his birthday this year and Zul knocked it out of the park! I preordered this cake on a Sunday and it was ready for pickup the following Tuesday as per my request; I was really impressed by their speed and professionalism! Zul’s Ube Cake was absolute perfection. I’ve tried other ube desserts from different states & other establishments, nothing holds a candle to their Ube Cake!

Very happy with our food. Pork sisig was the star. Adobo chicken was solid. Noodles were ok. Lumpiang was very good.

The hidden gem of New Haven. Very small place you can only get take out. But good portion and the food is delicious. I had the fried fish. Simple yet fresh and flavorful. The halo halo is a little hard to mix though being in a tall cup.

Nice little Filipino restaurant. The location is small (3-4 seats).Looking for a good Filipino restaurant, I was recommended to try this place out. I was told it was authentic. I had the longanisa and fried egg with rice and a side of lumpia. The service was excellent when I asked if the lumpia can be served with 6 piece vs 12 pieces (it was just me and I did not feel like eating 12).Looking at the menu it was not what I was expecting. The menu were indeed Filipino dishes but not what I was looking for. I was looking for fried tilapia, chicken/pork adobo, sinigang, etc. The menu did not provide any of these dishes in any way.I think to put it simply the menu seemed to be designed as a to-go menu and it served a specific audience i.e. college non-filipino customers, if that makes sense.Overall, the food is good but if you're looking for, in my opinion, popular filipino dishes, this is not it. The location is small, so if you plan to eat in the restaurant, I would go by yourself or with one other person.

I got take out during lunch time. Taho was cold and had no flavor at all, it didn't have that hint of sweetness you expect from taho. Pork sisig had no kick to it, and tasted more like just onions and some mang thomas. Lechon kawali had no flavor what so ever, it was just fried not even crispy, oily and you have mang thomas as a dipping sauce. Was initially excited to try but just ended up being disappointed, would not recommend any of the food I got.

Everyone was smiling and very nice when I walked in to pick up my order. The food tasted fresh and it was flavorful. Definitely satisfied the craving of missing my wife’s food while she’s away. I will be back!

We got the Ube cake for my birthday and got really good comments from the people who have tried it — including me and my husband. The icing is not too sweet and the cake is moist!

My family ate at this restaurant for my brother’s birthday, and I can assert that Zul completely exceeded my expectations for what hospitality and authentic Filipino food should be like. If you’re considering visiting Zul, I hope this review helps to inform you of just how wonderful the experience is at this place! The atmosphere of this restaurant reminded me of enjoying a freshly cooked meal in the kitchen of a Filipino household. The decorations made me feel at home. In addition, the karaoke room was beautifully furnished and provided a sense of ease and relaxation. The restroom was comfortable and entirely clean. As for the hospitality, the owners were friendly and helpful. Gladys was exceptionally confident with the menu and gave appetizing recommendations. The food was certainly the best part of the experience. The chicken was salty with an astonishingly crispy exterior, yet it was so soft and tender inside that it tore apart easily. Meanwhile, the spongy ube mango cake held a perfect balance between tangy and sweet. All the food at Zul, including the baked goods, is made from scratch.Overall, because of its atmosphere, hospitality, and delicious authentic Filipino food, Zul is one of my first choices to recommend to anyone in the area who is interested in exploring different cuisine. “Ten thumbs-up!”

Got lumpia Shanghai and lechon sisig. Sisig was okay, lumpia was greasy and soft. Sisig wasn't sisig, basically closer to pork Adobo. Place is crazy, charges $18.00 for sisig that isn't sisig and is about 60% rice and 1/4 cup pork. Bones in pork, not authentic at all. Make it yourself or just wait until you're in NYC next. Very disappointed in this "Filipino" food.

Best ube cake I've ever had. It's light, fluffy, creamy and just the right amount of sweetness. I haven't tried the food but definitely will when I go back for more cake!
