Hidden in the corner, somewhere in Newington. Tokyo Cafe was a pleasantly delicious and wholesome surprise. My partner and I decided to venture out and try somewhere new and we may have just found our new regular spot. The dining room doesn’t have too much seating (6-8 tables max) and I would definitely consider it an intimate but cozy vibe. We frequent sushi of all calibers, this isn’t meant to be compared to Nobu or other establishments of the sort. It is an excellent neighborhood sushi restaurant. The food was fresh and delectable . My partner really enjoyed the Kani Salad as an appetizer. She said it was unique in taste and refreshing. I had a house salad with ginger dressing and the miso soup which was just what I wanted and what you would expect. We also shared the Pepper Tuna Tataki ??? absolutely delightful. I must mention all from the dressing to the consistency of the kani salad, this wasn’t the generic all you can eat, run of the mill spot. The very nice lady that waited on us was very attentive and put care into her work. The Sushi Itamae delivered with a beautiful presentation and construction of the “Sushi Sashimi Combo 4 Us”. We finished the meal off with some fried ice cream and left happy and full. I would recommend this place and we will be returning.

This sushi was very affordable and decent. It won't blow your mind but if you're craving a quick sushi fix, it will get the job done. 3 stars cause if you've had a lot of sushi, and think of the best sushi in your life as a 5, then I feel 3 is reasonable. Maybe 3.5. Our waitress gave us our food but didn't give chopsticks or napkins. I had the Dragon roll and Newington roll which were really good. Girlfriend had Alaskan rolls and a few others that she enjoyed. We both had the miso soup which was great. The soy sause was a little off though, too acidic or pungent, can't think of a word for it. The ginger was dry as well. Vibes of the place are unique and intimate. I'd consider coming back for the prices.

I've been wanting to try this place for a year, and was finally able to today! And it was delicious! They offer all kinds of rolls, on top of food like udon and rice dishes. And everything is actually priced well considering its sushi (I've been to some pretty expensive sushi places). It's also pretty cozy inside, so if you wanna go in and just chill and eat sushi, this is a good place to go! Lotads courtesy of my bf!

Passed the small restaurant multiple times and finally got the chance to order some sushi. Love the spicy combo for take out and it is beyond expectation! Fresh and yummy. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff also.

Literally the greatest Japanese restaurant in the world is hidden here as a hole in the wall in Newington, CT. It’s like finding Hatori-hanzo steel at the trailer park. A must visit.
