The restaurant is lovely. The food is average. The service…Very very slow (we were greeted by a server who then vanished and no one returned for a long while). The manager was rude, passing our table and uttering a very snarky remark under his breath, heard by everyone. Maybe the restaurant was having an off day and perhaps they were understaffed; we would have understood had this been explained. Instead, we were subjected to the manager’s nasty behavior. Sadly, not a place worth revisiting.

The Newtown Inn was our favorite brunch place for years until they were closed a few years ago, we finally decided to give Marygold a try on Saturday. Wow! so happy that we did! The brunch menu offered many great options and the prices were surprisingly reasonable, my brunch salad was both interesting and delicious , their version of eggs bacon sausage pancakes combo was nicely presented and tasty, service was excellent as well, overall it was a great experience and we will be back again soon.

Loved this place! Cozy and romantic setting. I had the Wag Yu Tail Cocktail and the Wag Yu Entree. Probably the most interesting drink I've ever had and the Wag Yu Steak melted in your mouth. Perfect seasoned and prepared. And fantastic service!

My expectations definitely exceeded Marigold's On Main results. Food was average, not great. Prices reflected good to great expectations- not the case. Excellent selection of bar drinks including some fun ones with foam on top and different mixologies. My burger was average to midland. My escargot was very good and the bread they had on the plate with the escargot was very good. Salad was moderate in quantity but nice flavor profile - albeit one to two dressings only. My son had fried calamari and it was ok, and no don't ask for tartar sauce because they don't have any. One item only on the entire menu was Gluten Free (besides $3.50 a piece oysters) which was one of only 3 deserts on the menu... Crème Brûlée. Nothing on the menu could be "special ordered", or so it seemed, with limited special needs requirements such as Gluten Free anything. Bread, rolls for hamburger, pasta - nothing. The menu seemed limited and hard lined. Service was below average and our waitress never checked on us - at all. We flagged her down several times for condiments and butter which did not come with the bread. Just bread on my escargot dish, as I previously mentioned. Ambiance was old "Newtown Inn" with a new coating of paint. Neat logo of Marigold's on the wall and menu covers but none to be found in the art, or live on tables. Maybe a small item, but don't call yourself one thing and have carnations on only a few tables. They cut down the mile long hall to the restrooms and put them off the lobby. Liked that except mens room can be seen from the lobby and vice versa. Kinda weird. Overall IMHO, Marigolds is a 3. If they offered some options for those with food allergies, or even complementing condiments I may feel differently. But they don't so alas, after a long wait after the Newtown Inn closed, Marigolds will remain an "only if we need to stop, and only if we can't get in any place else." Glad we tried it... won't be back soon.

Great food. Loved the vibe. Live music was amazing!! The wait staff was quick and friendly.Didn't love that people who arrived 10 mins after us with the same reservation time got seated before we did.

The brunch was delicious! Lots of food, and delicious drinks. I would say it was a 5star experience for a normal brunch. Quiet enough to hear conversation with light live music in the background. Will definitely be back

WE visited Marygolds for Valentine's day... considered myself lucky to get a 7:15 PM reservation 4 days prior - as expected the place was packed when we arrived and parking was at a premium in the fairly large lot. The host greeted us relatively soon after we arrived and suggested we wait at the bar until our table was ready. It was about a 20 minute wait for our table to turnover, and in the meantime the very capable bartender had mixed my wife a creative drink and poured me a glass of one of the house wines. When we were seated it took another 15+ minutes for a server to get to us - we witnessed them scurrying about frantically covering the other tables, so like most restaurants these days, its hard to have enough help. The menu was diverse with many starters and salads to choose from, and several entrees (there were also special selections on separate menu). We decided on two appetizers: crab cakes, and whipped ricotta then a dinner salad and main course of their NY strip steak. The crab cakes were a nice size, not overbreaded and well prepared. The whipped ricotta was OK - lacking any real character. The salad was decent, although a bit light on the blue cheese side sauce for the beets. The main course was a disappointment. The steak was tough and very fatty it came with two sauces that we chose of the three available: a bordelaise that was tasty, and a chimichurri that was inedible because it was so overgarliced with what was probably a green garlic clove. - the dish was presented with shoestring fries, and cost $45... overpriced for what we got was our opinion. For dessert we had the homemade beignet with raspberry coulis - decent, but not worth the trip there by themselves. Our server was energetic, pleasant and helpful. On the plus side, there was a talented guitar player singing in the adjacent room that provided nice background music, and the dining room(s) were open and spacious with an old New England Inn feel.

It was Valentines Day so I expected to it be busy unfortunately it seemed they were under staffed to which slowed the process. I had a 7pm reservation and didn't get seated until almost 7:30. I had the prime rib special which was delicious but cold. Again I chalk it up to being short staffed because the only two waiters we saw never stopped going from table to table and our waiter could not have been nicer. I will definitely be back and will recommend to others but won't come again on a special day.

It was Valentine's Day and the place was full - yet woefully understaffed. The server was gracious and apologetic...but apologizing every time she came to the table was unfortunate for her and us. As for the food - wow. Just bland and completely run of the mill. The baked clams appetizer had clearly been purchased from the freezer case at Caraluzzi's. When you put "Steak Frites" on a menu, it would help for the chef to understand what that dish is and not just a mediocre, unsliced strip steak thrown down on the plate with what appeared to be McDonald's French fries in a scattered bunch. There's a specific presentation to that dish - and this was definitely not it. The sauce served on the side was also out of place. The "special" lobster bucatini lacked any seasoning whatsoever and by the look of things may have barely included 2.5 ounces of lobster meat. Our coffees and Espressos were ice cold. It had been a long time between visits - and we will not be going back.

We went for Valentine's Day. We were fortunate to get a table in front of the fireplace. My wife and I both started with a Caesar salad which was delicious. Lettuce was fresh and crisp. We also both chose a dinner special, lobster bucatini which was heavenly. Portion was not small. For desert my wife had an olive oil cake and I chose beignets. Both were enjoyable. We both were very impressed and will return. Service could have been a little better, but was good. I think it was just an experience thing with our particular server, but she was very pleasant and not really much to complain about. This is a very nice restaurant. Don't hesitate to try it.

Love your cocktails and ambiance! We live in town and consensus among our friends is we wish you had more menu options and more of a pub menu for the bar area as well as more plentiful portions. With a town full of families a children's menu that's enticing would be a great addition. We love to see you busy and enjoy all your events. I was there with a group for ladies night and we asked for your southwest chicken salad in a wrap, it was delicious! It should be on the menu with fries! P.S. Oliver makes the best cocktails and he's such an asset to Marygold's!

Went with some friends for Moms night out and enjoyed dinner and ladies night. Food is yummy and so are the drinks. Not too loud so we were able to all have a conversation while eating and laughed all night. I have also been here for brunch which was wonderful.

I am mad it took me so long to eat here. We went for a girls night and had a blast. It's got an old school Newtown low ceiling vibe. The foyer has couches and a fireplace for waiting and grouping. The food was delicious. I got the beef shepherds pie. Small strips of seasoned beef topped mashed potatoes with a seared top. Very pretty. The drinks were all a hit. The service was above and beyond. Very attentive. The only thing I would offer is a change in center seating options. We sat along the wall and were very comfortable but coveted the corner booth all night - when we arrived the other options were low center table groupings or a singular high top in the middle of the room. No one wants to be on display in the middle of the room at a high top. I would suggest cozier seating options in the middle of the room. The place lends itself to upscale nights out more than it does a bar scene. Gorgeous lounge in the front could have high tops for overflow. We will definitely be returning regardless. Loved loved loved.

Had the scallops and squash and the short ribs. Wow was this meal delicious. Service was spot on. Restaurant was mostly full too. It's still a little pricey or we would be back more often.
