Very special white table cloth experience. Food great, staff very attentive yet not pushy. Atmosphere very nice where u can actually have a conversation and not have to be talking over everyone else. Will be back again.

My husband and I went there on a Friday night and it was a nice venue, but we waited between appetizers and main dish for over 45 minutes. What we thought would be a 1 hour meal turned into an over 2 hour meal, just waiting for our entrée. although the food was good we probably wouldn't go back unless we want to sit and wait.

My husband and I have always loved Nouveau Monde; the food is exceptional, they boast an extensive wine list, the atmosphere and service are always on point. Unfortunately we began to notice that their sommelier Jeffrey engages in the practice of trying every single bottle of wine he opens before serving it to the patron. This is not standard practice and not something their former somm did before pouring the wine. I'm not sure why this is happening, it should be up to the customer to decide whether or not the wine is acceptable, and when you are spending a significant amount of money on the wine, I think the somm should be invited by the diner to try the wine before taking some. This current practice has soured our experience with Nouveau Monde and will make us think twice about continuing our patronage.

This is now our favorite local dinner place, and that says something in Newtown. The atmosphere is wonderful and service excellent. The Sommelier is knowledgeable and personable. He's given us wonderful pairings. The wine list is overwhelming so we always consult him.The food is delicious and perfectly prepared. Last night I had the Salmon with mango chutney and loved it while my wife had the chicken which was tender and juicy with perfect sides. The duck is also delectable. Not a lot of tables so plan ahead. It is always booked on the weekends. You'll love it!

I hate to be so critical, especially because I'm not from the area, but there are enough reviews here to even it out. My salmon entree was so good that it single-handedly salvaged the visit, but in all other respects the experience was underwhelming. The duck entree was forgettable. The desserts were unimpressive. The ambiance was just strange, as if Wayfair had opened a pop-up restaurant filled with closeout items. Our service was genuinely distracting, alternating between hyperactive and sullen depending on the staff. (I know staffing is especially difficult right now -- just try to tone it down!) In the middle of our meal we had a distant acquaintance stop by and rave that this was the best restaurant in Connecticut, so perhaps just a fluke that we had such an uneven experience. I wouldn't come back though.

Always the best food, service and atmosphere here. Menu changes are always fun and innovative, desserts are delicious and wine list can't be beat. Favorite restaurant in the state.

amazing food and service. We loved every dish we ordered and the wine pairings were exquisite and the cocktails were very delicious and strong. Highly recommended and will be coming back soon.

Stayed local for date night and were blown away by the accommodating staff, tasteful food, and warm ambiance of Nouveau Monde. Their wine list is near 50 pages long offering a wide variety. Nouveau Monde fell short of five stars for us due to the small size of some of the appetizers. The stuffed dates were incredibly unique but we wish we were given more than three to share between the two of us. We highly recommend the pork chop... it was served over the most delicious grits! Nouveau Monde is well worth the date night splurge. We will definitely be back for more special occasions!

Wonderful meal for valentines day! The service made us feel really special, and the food was phenomenal. Every bite made me feel like the food critic at the end of Pixar's Ratatouille

This meal blew us away from start to finish! Honestly, one of the best, if not THE BEST meal we've ever had. Also, beautiful atmosphere and friendly staff. Will be back for sure!

This was my mine and my husband's first time dining here. I was very impressed with the small, intimate setting of the dining area. We were seated right away, and our server was very friendly and attentive. The wine list was very extensive and we were pleased with our choices. The food and service was wonderful; we will definitely recommend to others and return. Our only complaint was that the temperature of the dining room was a little too warm, making it feel a little stuffy.

Without doubt one of the BEST restaurants in Connecticut. Absolutely great food presented beautifully. With a very upscale and welcoming decor. Try the foie gras or the pheasant terriene to start. The wine list is amazing. If you like sophisticated dining this is a place you should try. We loved it and will go back.

Everything was wonderful starting with the ambiance, service, menu choices and food quality. I have only 2 criticisms. Our white wine was not served a cold temperature. The prosecco was but not the glasses of wine. Also while the foie gras was delicious the serving size was skimpy. Otherwise everything was perfect.

New to Newtown restaurant with an extensive wine list and sommelier on property. Parking is quite tight but there is another lot that you can park at. The restaurant is a conversion of an older house and the decor is very quaint and includes tray ceilings. The servers were kind but a bit unsure about menu questions. We had the Thai beef appetizer and the grilled octopus. The beef skewers were flavored very well and the meat was tender same for the octopus it had great flavor with a very robust red sauce. My one friend had the salmon that had a ginger and fresh herb seasoning, I had the pork chop with cheese grits. The pork chop was super juicy and cooked to perfection. I kept the hot honey on the side and enjoyed the pork chop and veggies by themselves. My third friend had the Parmesan crusted chicken which had nice flavor but was a bit tough. We tried two sweets the flourless chocolate cake and the sticky pudding both were very good and full of flavor They take credit card and reservations are hard to come by so be sure you schedule before arriving
