I love Sal e pepe but the last couple of times we got take out it wasn’t good. Last order, Chicken francese was cut up in pieces and put in a tiny container so it stewed in the sauce. It was just inedible and not sure why they did it that way. Otherwise the food is usually very good.

Food was good. We sat in front of the door in the dinning room. No curtain, frosted gloss or shade in the door which resulted in the light shinning in my guest all through dinner. You would think that they could fix this quite easily, by covering the glass with a decal from Home Depot or placing a curtain or drape over the glass since there exists a curtain rod on the door.

Had a bad recommendation to try this place. Took my step dad here for his birthday with the family and we were disappointed. None of us could understand how people genuinely enjoy this place with all of the other great Italian restaurants in CT. 2 of the beers that I tried to order were out. Service was slow. Sauce was overly sweet and mediocre (can genuinely cook better at home). The atmosphere was dated and depressing. Prices were offensively high for the quality. Not a single reason to return. It is pretty clear to me that people who rate this well either do not get out a lot or, when they do, do not drive outside of Newtown. Try Quattro Pazzi in Fairfield if you want to really enjoy a good Italian meal. It will be well worth your drive, time and money.

My favorite is the pistachio salmon! Your entrees are top of the line always delicious. I love the fresh bread it is a great touch too for a fine dining experience! Any meals we have gotten here have been absolutely delicious. Impeccable service nice ambiance excellent fresh food.

This was our first time. Walked in and the smell was amazing! Mouthwatering Italian good! Heaven! Table was a little tight for four and we were right by the door which was a bit chilly. Service was very slow. We were there for 3 hours! Food was fantastic-lasagna, chicken Parm, pasta, beef noodles. So so good! Wine was good too. I would come back. Would just like the service to be a bit faster.

Food was very good as was the service. There was confusion as to where our table was and that was awkward. The kitchen seemed to be very slow so it was over 45 minutes until we finally got our entree. If not for these things, it would have been 5 stars.

Became ill from the meal just after midnight. My wife was fine. We only shared the Peking Duck Potstickers. I had the Caesar salad and Sea Bass special with the puréed sweet potatoes and spinach. Clearly stomach reaction to the meal. Nuff said. Wine room jammed and loud. One server. She did her best.

The food was ok. The service was horrible. I don't usually complain but we waited two hours for our food. They crammed as many people as they could for the holiday. We were all on top of each other and it was very noisy. We could barely hear each other. We will not be going back.

Arrived at 630, 640 had drinks and apps ordered. 744, 3 salads and a small plate of mussels finally arrived, waitress somewhat apologetic, very nice though. 845 the we finally arrived, after asking a couple times where the food is and seeing g people that came before us just getting theirs. Nobody in the restaurant seemed very happy at this point. Zero apology, no offer of free coffee, drink, dessert, nothing. Kids were half asleep. We wrapped up everything and left. These were all pasta dishes as well, nothing crazy.

Our food took forever to come and when it did it was just ok. The server was not super friendly when we complained about how long the food was taking. Just was not a positive experience.

This restaurant (although not just Italian) makes you feel like you're in Italy, not just because of its ambiance and its menu, but because of its warmth, by the welcoming owners and its experienced and helpful staff. It's outrageously delicious.

We had a great dinner last time we were here last year & decided to return. Tonight wasn’t that good. I ordered the filet and about 1/2 of it was all fat. I brought it to the waiters attention. The bill comes and I’m still charged the full price after only eating 1/2 ! We won’t be returning.

We love this place. Feels like home. Only wish can they make or add an Italian cheesecake to their menu and Tuna for my husband..he had the pork chop and loved it but we don't eat meat and he is picky about fish. It would be great to add these two items. Loved it as usual. Hope little white lights stay up during this dreary grey days ahead as know holiday decorations are coming down.
