I gave them 5 stars for closing down. New management has taken over since then, thankfully.

Terrible service. After 40 min, I had to go up to the hostess desk and ask where our food was. Our cold soggy entree came out, with the appetizer to follow. The food was so salty I took 2 bites and couldn’t eat it

I loved my rum punch and the chowder was excellent perfect for the stop I needed to make and everyone was friendly.

The food wasn't great but customer service was excellent. I got order to go so can't rate atmosphere. There should be a n/a option on these reviews.

A friend and I decided to try The Hook and Ladder for take-out. It's always exciting to try new places and after exploring the menu was looking forward to trying it out. The menu was fairly small but had a good variety of options. I decided on the Rueben (the Siracha spiked 1000 island sold it for me!) which was served with fries. The food came in metal take out containers with a fair number of napkins, cutlery, and ketchup. The fries were no longer crispy; however, that has been a typical experience of mine when it comes to take out. The Rueben was served between two slices of nicely grilled buttery rye bread with a generous portion of flavorful caramelized onion sauerkraut. My two issues with this sandwich were the meat and dressing. Despite the heaping portion of onions, it was served with only one slice of corned beef, and the Siracha spiked 1000 island was mild and nearly undetectable. My experience with The Hook and Ladder left me feeling disappointed and underwhelmed.

This is a review about take out, might be a little better sitting in. I am unsure if they were short handed, the woman seemed to be doing all the jobs- bartending, cooking and waitressing. There weren't many people there, although it WAS a Monday night. The food took longer than expected, not so much a big deal. I did enjoy that they used metal containers rather than styrofoam. I wanted the portobello mushroom burger but they were out if portobello mushrooms and the veggie burgers, so I got the chicken avocado, my friend got the Reuben. The chicken was small although seasoned well, it didn't fit the bun. My friend said the Reuben only had one piece of corned beef on it. Fries were soggy, but we did wait 10 min or so to eat it, so expected of take out fries. Overall, we were fairly underwhelmed.

The fare was fair. Fries were soggy and I ordered a burger done Medium, recieved it done well. Was told beer was 4$, charged 5$. Waited way too long for a subpar meal and to be misinformed and overcharged.

Has a good Steak salad. Meat was cooked as requested. Good selection of nationwide and local beer.

There's a lot of improvement needed. First, there's no road signage and it can't be seen from the road; it's in a Best Western that's set back from the road and also not really visible. There are only like 5 parking spaces near the entrance otherwise you have to use the hotel lot. The inside of the restaurant is nice, clean, had comfortable seats, and maintained the firefighter theme. Unfortunately the AC was set to freeze, but otherwise the interior was nice. The service was really bad though. I went in as part of a group of 4 and there were only 2 people at the bar. We were introduced to our waiter immediately but he was extremely ineffective especially given how dead the place was. The whole time he tried to be too chummy, insisted he had our order by memory, forgot my drink, forgot to put in my food order, when he came to say the food would take a little longer I asked for another drink which he promptly forgot. The food was alright at best - basically just bar food and the fries were very soggy. When I got my first beer he poured rhe bottle into a glass but just dumped it straight in so it was all head and there was about a third of a bottle left, then tried to say that 'that's how IPAs pour' (I didn't let him pour the second). To top it off, towards the end he PULLED UP A CHAIR TO OUR TABLE and started talking to one of our party about how he wanted to make the place better and asking for feedback. We had plenty to give but what he did was weird and made everyone uncomfortable.

Service was slow because only one staffer working, BUT drinks good, food portions generous, and food was good! Enjoy it!

Quiet little bar, not much going on the night we were here but service was good and the drinks as expected..

The food was excellent. The only disappointment was the cutlery - very cheap. When eating great food which was moderately priced, the silverware should match the quality!
