Casual, but upscale restaurant in Old Saybrook. The food was very good and staff was very friendly.

Our first time at The Aspen and we were disappointed. Got the Fettuccine Crab for dinner from the "specials" menu but there was no crab and the Fettuccine was so undercooked that it wasn't even al dente. Maybe this shouldn't be a special.

Spectacular food and service. Had a party of 6 and the food was incredible, drinks were very good and service was prompt. Will absoutely dine again.

The food was excellent at Aspen, as was the service. This was our first meal there, and it was delicious. I had the braised short rib, which fell apart beautifully as soon as I touched it. Melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness. The creme brulee cheesecake was delightful - a combo of my two favorite desserts. I hope to eat there many more times in the future!

It was our first time dining here after many years of visiting the Old Saybrook area. We had a lovely meal, actually it was a special Valentine's Day menu. We thoroughly enjoyed the clam chowder, very creamy and loaded with clams. The lobster risotto was combined with various mushrooms which made for a hearty first course, along with the tempura oysters, not over cooked, sweet and savory. Stonington sea scallops were the entre, seared and soft, very good. The dessert was the chocolate profiteroles and coffee. Great dining experience. Our server, Andrew, was a gem. Great experience, great food, great place. Enjoy!

A very classy establishment. Everyone was dressed alittle bit more up scale and it had more of a fancier date night vibe with dimmer lighting and a renovated interior. They apparently change the menu depending on season. Service was fast. We didn't wait more than 10 minutes in between check ins. Both dishes - the sword fish and the steak were fantastic.

Despite my dining companion telling the waitstaff her allergies, it still came out incorrectly, The waitress never came over after she heard it was wrong for about 30 minutes - her attention to us was lacking. Even though we had a previous meal that was good, this might deter us from returning.

Our server Amy was great. All the food was very good - crab fritters to start were excellent. I had Halibut special and my wife did a build your own with swordfish. We both really enjoyed our meals.

Good food, great service (thanks Haley!) Small thing: For afternoon dining, it would be good to make sure to seat people where they will not be looking directly into the sun around 5PM when the sun is low. Just a suggestion, not at all a complaint.
Disappointed with the lobster & bacon freid rice, way to seeet and fishy tasting I ate maybe 1/2 of it. Another person in our party was dissatisfied with the Kobe beef pot stickers that were over cooked with a way to sweet sauce yet again.

Aspen recently hosted my mom’s post celebration of life reception in their private event room downstairs. It was an intimate space with a full bar, plenty of tables people to sit wherever and the food and service was excellent. Leading into the day, the events manager, Jenna was very helpful at making food suggestions for one of these types of events. Many of our guests kept stating how nice the staff and manager were and that the food selection was perfect. I want to thank you all for your help making a tough day stressful by your kindness, attentiveness, and professionalism. Thank you.

Aspen is one of my favorite restaurants on the shoreline. Food is always consistently delicious and our server was great. The pecan crusted swordfish was fabulous and lobster bolognese did not disappoint. Ambiance is just perfect for a cold weather evening. All in all a great place for a cozy meal!

I stopped by here for a dinner with my family while visiting Connecticut and the food was delicious. I had the salmon and my wife had the sea scallops and they were both excellent choices. Over the ambiance was warm and the service was on point. Nothing but praise for an excellent meal.
