Blue Plate has always been a consistent staple for breakfast. We went for dinner recently and the fact that it was almost empty on a Friday night should have been a sign. They start off bringing a basket of popovers - which were more like uncooked dense muffins. We ordered a steak salad - the toast it came with was badly burned, and the medium steak we ordered was bloody. Sad to write this, but for a $60 dinner for two, I’d stay clear of this place.

All the negative reviews are pre 2023. So maybe COVID related. It seems as though all the problems have been fixed. I’ve not been to BPK in at least two years and I was a regular customer. I ate their twice last week. Food was good the place had been renovated, it was clean. The menu isn’t as extensive as it was (hey stick to what you do well). It’s worth giving BPK another try, I’m glad I did

My son and I we had an aweful experience here with this stylist called Bri or Bre , anyway the one with piercings all over her face. She did not have patience for my three 3 year old nor to cut hair period. I even show her a picture of what I wanted to look like, but she just couldn’t do it or more specific didn’t have the patience to do it. What she did looked nothing like the picture I showed her. This is for me someone who has no talent to cut hair at all. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE SPECIALLY FOR KIDS .

Waitress was nice. Waited 40 min for stone cold eggs and banana pancakes were made with hard plantains. Cook said that was what they use for bananas. Weird to say the least. And, the bill was wrong 3x.

A couple of months ago, my co-worker and I went to pick up soup for lunch. We only had a short amount of time to get back. Upon returning to the office, I saw that I got clam chowder not the potato soup I ordered. I am allergic to seafood. I called and because I did not have time to go back, I was told the cost would be returned to my bank card but it was not done. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but after 6 days, I called again and was assured the credit would go back on my card. Still no reimbursement. This is a poor way to handle customer service.

To say that this place has changed is an understatement. Food was lukewarm, place was dirty, restrooms were a wreck, waitress was slow. Salmon burger was lukewarm at best, sweet potato fries were cold, chicken and waffles were warm. Have to admit, I’ve never had chicken and waffles with four different parts of chicken, all with bone in. Quite the mess to eat. Average taste. Food took almost 40 minutes with no update from the waitress. Waitress took our order, brought our order, one refill, and the check. Never checked on us (at all!). Used to be a favorite of ours, but looks like the new owners don’t know what’s going on. I anxiously await an explanation on TripAdvisor. If you have a choice in West Hartford, there are plenty of other restaurants. Sorry a blue plate, you won’t be seeing us again after many years as customers!

We had the Lobster Roll which was excellent! I had a refreshing cucumber drink. Fast friendly service! A place to visit. Yummy

Omlettes were okay, my order had the wrong cheese on it. No offers for water or coffee refills. Bread pudding appetizer came after the food arrived. Bread should have been more toasted and potatoes came out cold. Also found a hair in my food.

First the place wasn’t very clean That caught my attention right away , then the service was really slow but the food wasn’t good at all. I had a pastrami sandwich an I’ve had beef jerky tender that that , had to be one of the worst I’ve ever had , an the salad came out look good but had no dressing on it so by the time the server came back to ask for dressing had to be 10 mins , at that point didn’t care so took a few bites then I tried to pay the check which took another few minutes, you would think that some one would have come by to ask if it’s o k

I am local to this restaurant and really wanted to like it under new management. Unfortunately, still not worth the cost. Salads were drenched with dressing - appetizer bread was cold - it much was really pleasant.

I used to eat here all the time. While the wait was always long, the service was friendly and attentive and the food was always good quality. I have been back several times since the change in ownership and I am sorry to say that everything has gotten worse. The wait staff is still friendly, but they never come to check on you. My last visit there were only four tables occupied, and we were all trying to flag someone down to order something. The food quality has also definitely gone down, we sent some thing back that was over cooked and dried out and we could see the kitchen person arguing with the waitress Before agreeing to make us a new one. It makes me sad because this used to be one of my favorite local spots to eat breakfast, lunch, happy hour, or dinner. No longer.
