Our favorite Chinese in CT. Chengdu dumplings or wontons are a must try - we order these every time. This past trip we had the Eggplant in Garlic Sauce and the Chicken with Asparagus lettuce and would order both again. Highly recommended restaurant!

Everything of this menu is delicious. And not even what I'd consider to be extremely spicy. Try the appetizers-- air-fried potatoes, DanDan noodles, dumplings. All of it will satisfy. Before eating here, I knew very little about authentic Szechuan food.

About ten years ago I dated a chef and this was one of his go-tos in our city of Hartford. Incredibly flavorful, authentic food! Bustling, active environment - great spot.

I had the Kung Pao chicken & the fish kumin for a take out last night. My daughter and i found both delicious. The kumin fish was a tad bit on the dry side but still scrumptious and a 5star.

As a person from Chengdu, I must say this place is mostly satisified my taste. However, jelly noodles have a big problem: it's not freshly made. The noodles taste like spinned off from the Jelly block and then aged for at least a few hours : they stick to each other and hardened.Besides, northern Sichuan jelly noodles do not have millet chili, another score down.As a Chengdu native, I can only say that the jelly has been unscrewed for too long and has become sticky and old. Moreover, Sichuanbei jelly is not as spicy as millet, which is hard to accept.Other dishes taste okay

Shu is always a hit, especially if you are into spicy Szechuan food. It’s not cheap, but it is very good. The Mapu Tofu and Dan Dan noodles are both a perfect blend of spice and savoriness. You will definitely need a reservation if you plan to come here on a weekend night for dinner as the restaurant is not very large.Would also recommend placing an order for takeout, going to shop at A Dong and then picking up after you’re done.Vegetarian options: There are many purely vegetable dishes and popular items like the Mapu Tofu can be requested to exclude meat options.

The food was delicious! It’s a very cozy yet elegant place. Service was perfect. Prices were good especially considering the portions were huge! Everything we got was yummy: the Szechuan style rice bean jelly noodles, Dan Dan Mei, DaoBan Yu, MaPo Tofu, and seafood lo main. We asked for some dishes to be made vegetarian by omitting the meat and they were very accommodating. #1 recommendation would be the DaoBan Yu sea-bass, it was truly incredible. Will definitely be coming back!

Overall I enjoyed the food. The service was attentive and food came out in a timely manner. The staff were warm and friendly.I will say some select dishes are overpriced for what is received - particularly the spicy dry pot. It should include shrimps, fish filet, squid ,beef, sausage, pork intestines, and mix vegetables in spicy sauce. The meal was 95% vegetable. There was a fair amount of beef, fish, and intestine. It had 2 thin slices of sausage (hotdog), 1 shrimp, 1 piece of squid. Me and the person sharing didnt get to try all the items because there was only 1 of a few of the included items. It was very disappointing. This was a $25 dollar dish of mostly veg bc the meat was scarce. For that, it loses one star.However- everything else was great. I have no complaints about the peking duck, dumplings, cuttlefish, or noodles. The cuttlefish was perfectly fried and we enjoyed it so much that we ended up ordering another serving. The noodles were flavorful, light and fresh tasting.Id say overall, this place is worth a visit if youd like to widen your horizons on some authentic chinese food.
