My wife and I are foodies. For the past five years, this is our favorite restaurant in Connecticut, worth every penny. The tables may be small and crowded and the wine selection is very limited, but flavors are amazing, as is the variety of unexpected choices. We're hooked on some dishes, but I encourage you to explore the entire menu. You won't be disappointed.

The food and atmosphere were great! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about our parties dietary restrictions and Japanese whiskeys. The cocktails were so well balanced and easy to drink!

Cute and comfy Izakaya style place! Chicken Karaage, Szechuan Dumplings, and Bahn Mi are delicious! As are the drinks. Excellent service too!

Incredible flavors, refined cuisine, highly recommend the tuna Nigiri or any nigiri in general. Great cocktail selection.

Things have changed here since pre Covid. Totally different service. Surly waitress made us feel uncomfortable and served and checked on other people before us. Food we ordered (had pork) we believe gave us food poisoning. Never coming back.

One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Food, drinks, atmosphere, and service were all top notch. I’d take the ferry from Long Island just to eat here again.

AMAZING!!! Moved to Fairfield county in August and so far this is mine and my husband's favorite restaurant. Make a reservation well in advance, particularly if going for dinner.

Loved the food and service here. Every dish we had was tasty, and the staff was very friendly. Our favorite dishes were the addicting cabbage, and crab fried rice. We’ll definitely be back!

The food is great, but the manager Stephanie went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. My girlfriend has a seafood allergy and Stephanie, unbeknownst to us went to the restaurant next door to get a piece of chicken cooked without shellfish contact or cross contamination from fryer. She did not even charge us. Also the bartender was a great guy as well. Highly recommend the food, the people working there were a huge bonus. Thank you Stephanie.

Always a pleasure to dine at Kawa Ni! The service is always friendly, and the ambience comforting like a prized room. My wife especially likes the Szechuan Steamed Edamame and the Biang Biang Chicken Bao. We both love the Miso Cucumbers and Szechuan Pork Dumplings. I like the Tsukemono and the Red Curry Coconut Onigiri. If I'm really hungry, I'll order one of the noodle offerings: I've had most of them! I'm also a sucker for the Sensei Negroni. Kawa Ni is a favorite of my whole family's (we have four children who live nearby), which should explain our frequent treks from Darien to Westport just to dine here!

What a wonderful place! Excellent service and the food was delicious. They have a nice variety of sake. We were sat at the bar, the bartenders were friendly and you could tell they put great effort in creating and delivering their drinks.

As usual it was a great dining experience. Cocktails were great! We hit up most of our favorites (Cabbage Salad, Gyoza, Hamachi, Scallop Temaki and Kimchi Carbonara) and tried a couple of new small plates (Kung Pao Karaage and Chicken Karaage). While we will dearly miss Owen, it was nice to meet Manny!

Innovative menu in pleasant lively atmosphere. Food always good. Service can be erratic at times, and they seem a little disorganized since Owen left. A good fun spot that needs to get it together again.

Kawa Ni in Westport delivered on its inventive and creative Japanese cuisine. We started off with the Kani salad, chicken karrage, and crab dumplings. The salad was beautifully balanced with mango and a hint of mint. The chicken was tender and yet crispy on the outside and the crab dumplings were light flavorful and had the perfect delicate balance of crab in a crispy light fried wrapper. The Szechuan dumplings with shrimp were a hit - spicy and flavorful, delicate in texture. The salmon temaki was a unique experience with everything seasoning. It was definitely the highlight of our meal. Highly recommend you make a ressie and check this place out!
