This is my new favorite restaurant. No matter where you’re from, the food here tastes like home and the cozy neighborhood vibe and friendly, attentive service only add to it. I stumbled across Balangay at the brunching hour on a lazy winter weekend and I never wanted to leave! Best meal I had out in all of 2023. Come and support Chef Wing and the team in 2024; you won’t be disappointed!

Enjoyed a lovely evening at Balangay for a birthday dinner and am so glad they are now in the neighborhood. If you haven’t visited yet, hurry on over! It will be well worth it whether you are celebrating something or simply want to try a new spot for dinner. We shared almost every dish on the menu and the staff was incredibly accommodating. One friend’s favorite was the smoked squash soup, while others really loved the ensaladang talong, an eggplant salad. While you cannot miss with the adobong chicken and the ginatang kalabasa with prawns, I was surprised by how much I also enjoyed the adobong kabute (adobo beans), a last minute addition to our order. An added bonus were the desserts at the end—a nice way to round out our dinner.Vegetarian options: Some of my favorite dishes from the evening were vegetarian!

This was a great place! We came in at around 8:30pm and stayed until around 10:00ish pm. We didn’t realize we were so far past closing because they did not rush us at all. The server was very nice and sweet. She was very helpful when ordering. The Chef also prepared a Calamansi drink which was very tasty. The Turkey Lumpia and sig sig was a great way to start the meal. We ordered the Adobo which has it own unique taste of coconut milk. We also ordered and the Pancit Bihon. For dessert we ordered the Cassava Cake which was well balanced and we also had the sweet rice. I would definitely recommend this place.

I visited Balangay for a friend’s birthday dinner and I was able to try most of the dishes on the menu. Each dish I tried was delicious as well equally pleasing to the eye. The ginataang kalabasa with prawns was a standout dish for me.

So excited that Chef Wing and team are back, and even closer to where we live! Not only does it just feel like home when you walk in, but the food is out of this world. Great vibes, great atmosphere, even better food. Can’t wait to try the brunch!

I’ve enjoyed Balangay’s food back when they were still in H St. Was excited the know they finally found a home in Petworth. Dining here again was a great experience. New menu has a lot of vegetarian options. Food was authentic but elevated, incorporating new ingredients that you didn’t think would work like portabello with ginataang kalabasa (squash in coconut). The ambience was cozy and intimate in the new Eatsplace venue. Chef Wing came to our table multiple times to check whether we were satisfied with our food. He even complemented our meal with a free dessert. What a host! Overall it was a pleasant dinner experience in this new restaurant. We’ll definitely be a regular.

What a delightful surprise. We are visiting and our hosts talked about Belengay but couldn’t go. We had the Nilagang Baka: it was delicious beef broth large chunks of tender beef and fresh boo choy. It was my favorite. Adobong kabute was another item that really wowed our taste buds. Wonderful experience worth every cent.

Chef Wing worked with me to plan a spread for my coworker’s retirement party. So great to work with him and the food was absolutely amazing. He even added Buko pie to the menu for me (my favorite). We ordered the classics - pork and chicken skewers, vegan and non- vegan lumpia, and pancit. The meal was a big hit with our group, and, most importantly, the soon to be retiree.

The food was decent but very expensive. The pork sisig was fine, but I wish it came with rice. Also, the pancit was the nicest part of my dinner, and the sauce of the chicken adobo is slightly too sweet for me.

A new gem in the neighborhood. Perfectly fried lumpias that hit the spot. Delicious vegan pancit. Chef Wing was awesome and friendly and gave me a little taster of a dessert he’s working on. Excited to try other dishes and become a regular at
