My first time here. It's been a while since I had been out so for water me and my friends came here. The ambiance is cute. Very barrel like place. Especially if you are a whiskey drinker. The bottomless mimosas were a hit. Our waiter Mason was awesome. He assisted us with our many dietary restrictions lol. The manager even came over and chatted with us. I would definitely come back. Oh and we finished brunch off with a whiskey flight!!!! Yes a good time was had by ALL......

Kid-friendliness: Kid-friendly in the sense that they don’t seem like they’d turn you away if you were to bring your children… but then again, the place is called “barrel” so it might be best not to.

Whiskey, whisky, and bourbon. The staff were cool and very helpful. Marcus and Andy made sure we were never without water or whiskey. The selection is impressive.

Holy geez!! Fantastic food, great environment, extremely cool bartender/server (Max), and chill music.Read online that the mimosas, chicken and waffles, and shrimp and grits were the items to get. I got the mimosas and shrimp and grits. My wife got the chicken and waffles (which I tasted). All of it bonkers!! Wonderful start to my sunny Sunday! Thanks Max!Also, get the potatoes and veggies. Share them as they’re big enough for two.

Really loved this place, I had an app, and dessert, plus tried a few bourbons. Marcus was my bartender and was fantastic! I will most definitely be here again on my next trip to DC!

Came here for a private whiskey tasting for my hubby’s bday. It was AMAZING! Matt did an awesome job, asking what type of whiskeys he likes and curating a whole experience for us. We truly appreciate the customer service they provided. The tasting and the experience were great. Everyone had a good time. We had Josh and I can’t remember the bar tender downstairs, but they were so accommodating and attentive my party’s needs. We stayed for food and they allowed us to stay in the basement due to our party size. The food was very good. We just got a bunch of shareables for the table and we loved everything. Brussel sprouts…amazing, chicken and pork sliders…yummy, wings…so good! We enjoyed it all. This is a great local spot with a low key vibe. DC can be very pretentious, so this was a great change of pace. Would highly recommend.

I loved this place! If you're driving, parking isn't the best.. I mean it's Pennsylvania Avenue lol so we took an Uber. We had a reservation for 3 and were seated immediately when we arrived. I have severe arthritis in my knee and I use a cane. We were seated at a high top table but the greater found a table for us and went above and beyond to help!! The food was incredible! We ordered potatoes, eggs, bananas foster French toast and waffles. The French toast was like dessert it was one of the best I've ever had! We were celebrating my birthday and we were given a complimentary shot of whiskey! It's a nice, whisky bar with great fresh food.

I went to Barrel DC for a Whiskey Tasting and 5 Course Dinner. It’s honestly something I never thought I’d do but I really enjoyed the entire experience. We had the pleasure of trying a few Scotch whiskeys from the Bruichladdich Distillery and The West Land Distillery along side delicious food pairings prepared by Chef Walfer Hernandez.Course 1:Duck ravioli - fennel, citrus butter, herbs, parm• Westland american single malt whiskeyCourse 2:crab linguini - compound butter, pecorino• Bruichladdich classic laddieCourse 3:arugula salad - sweet potato, charred radicchio, balsamic glaze• Westland solum 1st editionCourse 4:Bison bolognese carrots, onion, garlic cream, tagliatelle, gremolata• Port charlotte heavily peated 10 yearCourse 5:Crème brûlée - orange marmalade• Bruichladdich Octomore 14.2The restaurant has two floors but the whiskey tasting was held downstairs. The upstairs of the restaurant is a modern yet casual bar and the lower level is more intimate, the staff was pretty friendly and efficient, they promptly cleaned up after each course and were happy to give us new silverware after each plate. They have two gender neutral restrooms on site and they have limited street parking available.Im not a big straight whiskey girl but this was a really fun experience and would 10/10 recommend it for Whiskey lovers.Parking: There is street parking available but it is paid during certain hours of the day.

We went there for a date night and enjoyed the food very much. Lots of drinks to choose from and we love the bar feel! Bartender was very helpful and responsive. Even switched up drinks when we weren't happy with our first choice. We will be back.

We visited because we were looking for a good spot to get cocktails and whiskey. They did not disappoint. I don't know how many whiskeys they have officially, but they have enough of them that they had to list them in their "Bourbon Bible."We tried the Nachos, crab Rangoon, and the Barrell Burger and enjoyed all of them. The nachos were delicious with shredded pork on top.The cocktails were a highlight. I found several great whiskey pours at reasonable prices (understand it's never cheap to drink bourbon out), and my wife and daughter loved their cocktails they ordered. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is cool and rustic, and the whole vibe makes it a place worth trying. I hope to come back before our trip is over.

We did the whiskey tasting, I gave it as a Christmas present and Matt was so helpful in planning! He asked about preferences to taste and budget per person. During the tasting Matt gave a great history of bourbon and walked us through each type we tried, it was an awesome experience and so much fun as a date night! Would recommend to anyone even if you’re not a huge whiskey person!
