Every time I visit DC after having moved back home, I have to pop by for my favorite Blackened Salmon ? and Brussel Sprouts ?

We arrived around 11:30 on a Friday. It wasn't crowded but there was a line for scooter takeout that those of us waiting to be seated had to wait for the hostess to take care of them. It would be helpful to reduce the bottleneck to have a "runner" handle deliveries only during busy hours. I got the western omelette and cheese grits. The cheese grits came out as a ball in the bowl and were too thick. I wouldn't order either again. My companion enjoyed their salmon dish. This used to be the go to spot in DC, but the food is lacking each time I visit. It's no longer at the top of my recommendation list.

Nice bookstore slash restaurant Cafe. Plenty of space to work and eat or both. Strong wifi as well. The art decorations are amassing. It's almost like being in a gallery. Service is chill, mostly younger with a chill, friendly demeanor - I like it.I ordered the creole shrimp which was sad in terms of portion. It was $18 for a scoop of rice, several pieces of shrimp and vegetable tomato sauce. Want really good nor really bad just meh. I felt it was overpriced. Plus the shrimp could've been cooked more. But the presentation was beautiful. All in all it's a nice cafe. And I'd recommend coming here to read our but books, drink a coffee and work, but not the food. A bit overpriced for what you get.

Love coming here! The atmosphere, food, drinks and bookstore are all amazing! Have had so many things here, like the beet salad and the fried chicken. Both are phenomenal gluten free options. The mashed potatoes are an amazing gluten free side. Their weekend mimosas are a great deal too, they have a few great flavors. You can go wrong with any of them.Vegetarian options: The entire menu is phenomenal and has so many vegan and vegetarian options for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner.Dietary restrictions: Have amazing gluten free, vegan, vegetarian and any combo of those, dishes.

I ordered the Cubano and my husband ordered the grilled chicken panini, and they were delicious! The bread was amazing, the chicken was extremely well-cooked, and the chipotle had flavor without being overwhelming!

This place was fantastic! Food was phenomenal and they had plenty of gluten free options (the GF pancakes were very good). The book selection was also really well curated. Our waiter was very new, it was only his 4th day, but he did a really great job and handled all of our somewhat complicated orders (multiple substitutions, multiple drinks and sides for everyone) without messing a single thing up!

Had a great late breakfast while visiting DC with my family on Spring Break. The restaurant has a very laid back atmosphere, so don't expect this to be a fast in and out experience. The menu was great and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. I would definitely go back but just lower your expectations around speedy service, getting coffee quickly or anything like that. Not the place to go if you are in a hurry, but for a laid back breakfast/brunch/lunch, it was really great.

The concept for this restaurant is intriguing. The service is enough to make you question coming back. The one star for service seems generous. We arrived around 6:50 in time for Happy Hour and our server took our order for drinks and appetizers shortly after we arrived. The interaction was pleasant and we were looking forward to a great night out celebrating our anniversary. The appetizers came out after 10 minutes and the initial drinks didn't show up until 30 minutes after our order. Our server explained the "bar was backed up" and then promptly disappeared, never to return to take any additional orders. The ice had melted in at least a couple of the drinks so pretty sure they were sitting somewhere. After additional members of our party arrived and still no sign of the server, I finally went to the entry area where another server said he would come and take the additional orders. He was friendly and seemed interested but we then had to go back to the front area to ask to pay our bill. The entire time we were there they seemed busy but not overwhelmed.I don't recall every dining at a restaurant where the wait staff were totally uninterested in minimal service and their tips.Regarding the food the brussels sprouts, cauliflower, salads and burgers were all OK but if you are considering eating here, you might consider take out.Given other reviews I have since looked at, we aren't the only ones who have had this experience.

Place was okay. Service was not great. I'd probably have gone somewhere else. They did have a vegan tofu burrito.. but had almost none of the ingredients i claimed.
