Service was fine but the espresso coffee is terrible by my standards. If you like bitter coffee, like Starbucks, you may like it. But that's definitely not what you'd expect from a coffee shop packed with expensive espresso machines, grinders and such.

A pretty solid chain location, with plenty of seating and people watching. There was only one lady working, but she got my order out fast. Coffee was tasty and that's what's important.

Ok coffee, got the maple cold brew. Very expensive for the size, nothing I would return for

Best coffee around. Matcha is great as well and they make sure it's fully blended with not chunks at the bottom. Service is fast, you will be in and out and they take Apple Pay. A little small inside so I'm usually in and out but the staff is great.

My fave coffee place in DC. Great cold brew, friendly staff and a good espresso - everyone in here seems to be ordering iced drinks today & there's some pretty new fruity ones but I'm sticking w their fab cappuccino

The coffee is good, but some of the drinks are a bit too sweet. Pastries are great though. Also the prices are becoming obscene. I'd say there are plenty of better options (Dua) very nearby!

I came here for the first time this afternoon during my break because I wanted to try out one of their Freeze smoothies. It was definitely too late in the day for a coffee so instead I went for the mocha freeze. At nearly $7.00 I was hoping for the best and the biggest smoothie that they could deliver! The store was very busy for this time of the afternoon but there were several employees behind the counter taking people's orders and preparing their drinks. Today was the first time that I had ever been to this location, and the atmosphere was much different than what I had expected. Finding a place to sit was not easy and the thought of actually spending time in here to do work appears unrealistic. I didn't see anyone doing that, and pretty much everyone was just chilling and having conversations amongst themselves. The smoothie was awesome and I just ended up walking down K street drinking the smoothie.

I love my compass coffee! The staff is always super friendly and listens carefully to my orders. The seasonal cherry blossom cold brew was so yummy and they always have something fun to try. The espresso is rich and you are definitely drinking quality coffee here! I will be coming back for sure.

Had to find a good coffee place while visiting, and Compass Coffee hit the spot! Convenient locations and local to D.C., this coffee shop has something for everyone - your simple black coffee and espresso to bright and colorful creamy, seasonal drinks (e.g., a cherry blossom latte).Service was quick and easy - order at the counter and pay, and your baristas will carefully craft your drinks. It's a cute coffee shop with seating spaces and bright lighting. Lots of items for sale, and a small breakfast menu (sandwiches) along with pastries are available as well. The almond butter latte was creamy and smooth. Had the perfect flavor and was well balanced without being too milky or too sweet!

Love that this spot is just off the blue line metro! Service was fast, and they got the order just as I requested -- a decaf lavender iced latte. For $7 it was a little high end, but the quality was there. There's a good amount of seating inside, and natural lighting. My meet up was in a corner of the store, and I truly enjoyed the convenience. Food wise, there wasn't too much to offer, so I went there hungry and came home hungry.

Always friendly staff that is willing to help with suggestions on the best drink. I’ve never been disappointed with anything from Compass.

I feel like we all treat Compass with kid gloves because they're "one of our own" aka a local coffee chain with a heartwarming origin story. However, that does not negate the fact that the coffee drinks and coffee are consistently just not good or barely acceptable - in flavor/taste, warmth, and pricing. It's overpriced for what it is, and the attitudes of staff at this location in particular are alarming. If you order more than one or two drinks (for a group order), the entire team will roll their eyes, sigh and grumble - even if it's just drip coffee for the whole order, or if you tip heavily. They won't even get you lids - just turn their backs and leave you with like six open paper cups of steaming coffee without a tray and act like it's the world's biggest burden to help you. They really want you to understand that THEY are doing YOU the favor of selling you their mediocre coffee. The only reason I went here so often in the past was out of convenience and what I felt was a moral obligation to support a local coffee chain started by a veteran, but sadly their drinks and snack selection is objectively terrible. Add that bad service on top of that and you just walk away cringing. Just let them self-destruct - don't go out of your way to buy coffee here.

Best Coffee, Best Staff - my most favorite place for an oat milk cappuccino!!! Run don't walk!

I am not a fan. it is not about the bad flavor but the lack of morality in that they support a crypto fascist who tortures people to death in El Salvador. add to that that they over roast and rely too much on sugar and you have a spot bad on multiple levels.

This is a nice coffee shop and the staff are friendly, but the blaring music is annoying. Music at a coffee shop should be in the background, whereas music at a nightclub should be the focal point. With the music so loud, Compass is no longer a pleasant place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee.
