Coming from the Gulf Coast of MS & LA I was really hoping for good gumbo, but the gumbo was HORRIBLE. It was a lumpy roux that hadn’t been fully cooked out into the gumbo without the broth & had one piece of shrimp in the whole bowl and no lump crab. So sad. What’s worse is that our table waited 40 minutes to get the food. Wings and cornbread were decent, but not good enough to elevate the rating from the poor service and disgusting gumbo. I was already late to get back to the office so I didn’t stay to engage with mgmt and get a replacement or comp. I heard brunch and everything else was good, so it’s worth a try, but stay away from the gumbo.

Had a reservation for 4 @ 6:45pm tonight! Confirmed multiple times. Showed up to the restaurant and it’s closed for a private event! Not just any private, it’s a Democrat fundraiser. Good to know the once fine establishment of Due South closes their doors to everyday people without notice despite making a reservation days in advance! Never again!

Not too welcoming in 2024, I applied there when they first came to the neighborhood . lot of white people, then I figured out why they didn't hire me you but you never know the Pearl and the oyster. I hope they change their practices. Expeditor could manage your time a little better especially when you got gumbo and salad, and then the barbecue comes out cold. It lessens the experience of having to take it home and warm it up. But those biscuits stop me in my tracks.

SERVICE: Our server was friendly and helpful. She just had too large of an area to service the night we went for dinner.ATMOSPHERE: Bar on the left side of the restaurant and seating every where else. The paired seating near the windows to the right of the restaurant are too close for my liking. You will hear the conversation of the people next to you. You can reach over and touch their table.FOOD: My husband had the turkey salad. He added chicken and shrimp. He really enjoyed the dressing that came with it.I had the pit master's platter. It was disappointing that my food was cold. ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE. I packed everything in to-go boxes. My ribs, brisket, bbq, man c cheese, and collards were delicious when I warmed them up in the oven at home. The Cole slaw, potato salad, sausage and corn bread were not good to my liking. I wish I could've substituted other sides for those items.OVERALL: Being from the south I had better expectations for the taste of the food. I do not have plans of going back anytime soon. The atmosphere and food are my reasons.

Walking in the door was a good start, friendly hostess and was able to be seated right away. After that the place started to slip, waiting 10 minutes before a waiter or resemblance to a waiter to take a drink and food order. Food and drink came out fast, yet the up-charge for brisket ($8) is absurd for the four dinky flavorless slices provided. If you are going to up-charge for a menu item make sure you give enough to justify the fee. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was good but tasted like it was prepared in a frying pan not on a grill plus it was a single sausage. For the price charged/paid ($31) for this platter I should have gotten a decent southern BBQ platter with ample servings (not the case). The sides were decent, at least in taste. Someone should instruct or show the kitchen staff what a cornbread muffin looks like, the one I got was a cornbread muffin top. The jalapeño cheddar grits were the saving grace for this place. Finally it took 15 minutes to get the check and pay. Added little tidbit- the customer gets a nice added service fee (3%) to pay for a wage increase that the place already has figured in the prices- and it doesn’t go to the employees. Not bad food, just not wonderful service or value.

This restaurant is really nice and good! The decoration inside the restaurant is everything I love. It's an old industrial style from London. I really, really like it! But we sat on the terrace because it was super warm, and the outside is also super nice. I would even say cute :)The food was excellent; I don't have anything negative to say. My wife also loved it, so it was perfect! We waited a little bit for the fried chicken, but it was indicated on the menu that they need time to prepare it.Portion was generous, so now we have some left over! All the staff were very nice to us. They came to check on us during the wait and apologized, so that's honestly a very good point! The service was great.I will definitely come back!

Was pleasantly surprised at how great our experience was. This was my second visit. Our group of 5 walked in for dinner. We started off with drinks, which were all delicious. We also had wings and cornbread as starts. Finally, we all ordered the meatloaf with various sides, except one had the short rib special. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. The wings and drinks were fantastic favorites. The service was good and we were impressed at his ability to keep up with all of the order modifications.

Hostess was horrible. Zero communication with a tinge of rude. They had to remake my order because she refused to find my order that was just sitting around getting cold. Not ideal.

Kind of disappointed. Purchased reservations for Mardi Gras celebration for me . and my sister who were traveling from out of state. We arrived 45 minutes early, walked into bar. Cold/windy day. Was told event wouldn't start until 5:00. I had just assumed bar would be open. Anyway, walked with my elderly sister finally found a Starbucks. The experience killed the moment for my sister. Forfeited the cost of reservations and returned to hotel. Sorry that it turned out like this. Just seems like there would have been better solution, like allow us to sit at table or something. Series of unfortunate events. I shouldn't have assumed bar was open at 4:15 on weekday.

This is the second time I placed an order at this establishment only to show up and be told…””We’re closed”. This was after having charged my credit card and sending a message that my order was ready. Today they are closed for Super Bowl. Last time they closed early because it was Christmas Eve. I’m really not mad about them closing to enable their staff a day off early to celebrate…I’m furious that management doesn’t know how to inform the public so that one’s time is not wasted!!!! It’s like “management” decided at the last minute to make this decision. Why can’t you update your website so that it’s known that you’re closed? . In fact, when I showed up to pick up the order, management’s attitude was pretty cavalier…like…oh well. Oh well….I’m not going back. Not worth it. (And by the way, I had to get American Express to intervene to get my full refund the first time. That should have been my sign then).

I’ve been fortunate enough to visit here pre 2020 when they captured my heart and I have definitely been a few times afterwards. Overall I’ve had more great experiences than not, but it’s important to highlight two people that handled things when I didn’t have the best experience.Maggie & Mike were especially considerate and transparent when the service wasn’t quite up to par. My waiter (who was newish) left us on an island a few times and I was honest with Mike and told him that HE actually set the bar for this place. Mike understood and said he’d be sure to speak with him, but he also made sure to provide more oversight on top of his own workload. It’s little things like that that actually aren’t little at all and for that reason I’ll for sure keep going. This was 2 years ago (yeah I know), but I won’t forget it. When I first visited Due South Mike was my waiter and he did such an amazing job. Personable, fast paced, solution oriented when necessary, and attentive; everything you’d like from a restaurant staff. I sang his praises to Maggie (who I believe was the bar manager) and let her know the opportunities I experienced (which were rare) and she was attentive and considerate and said to let her know if I needed anything in the future. Again, a little not so little thing. The most important reason why I’ll be back? The. Food. The biscuits and preserves were amazing. Warm and savory. If you miss the brunch hours you’ll likely miss out on them. The bacon & pimento burger was well executed, but I learned pimento cheese wasn’t for me. Still not mad at the burger though! The chicken & waffles were great too and I’ve never had a long wait for food. Even when the restaurant was at its brunchiest (and it does get brunchy)! The outdoor seating is also nice (my preference) and I love the New Orleans photos in the restroom.

Met Mike after getting seated for lunch. Tried the Atlas Bullpen Pilsner on the servers' recommendation. Lunch crowd was lively and not too noisy. Keyon was the best server and knew the lunch and bar menus through and through. My buddy and I had the blackened catfish. He had the plate and I enjoyed the po' boy. My side dish of collard greens were nicely seasoned with a hint of of vinegar and not salt which was a pleasant surprise.
