Pretty sure the OJ in the mimosas were bad or we were drugged. I had 2 1/2 mimosas was there with a big group of girls who had the same amount and we all got sick.

I visited in 2022 with a friend and it was a bit underwhelming. The proper burger was not seasoned at all and depended on the sweet chili sauce for flavor. This is unacceptable and a burger should stand on its own without the need for a sauce. Also, I was served a medium rare burger, which I was not expecting since I was not asked how well done I wanted my burger. However, I applaud their promptness in redoing my meal. The potato boxty was good. Overall, not that impressed. Service and ambiance were great!

Decent to good. On GWU campus, convenient for students and Foggy Bottom. Several TVs for sports viewing.

I have traveled far and wide on my quest for the best burger, and Duke's proper burger reigns supreme.

Not a fan. I don't mind paying big tickets for big ticket items and exceptional food and or service but this was subpar at best. They were not busy when we made our entry and were immediately told we would have to vacate our table in 45 minutes bc they needed the seating. Limited menu was being served for the late afternoon seating. Food was mediocre at best. Our meal, which consisted of hamburgers and fries for 5 people was $120.... Never again.

Came here for dinner. $16 for a hamburger that comes with nothing else on the plate. Not even a tiny garnish to make it look nice. $6 extra for French fries. Really? Cheapest glass of wine $11 for a not very generous pour. Won’t be back.

Rude staff and overpriced mediocre bar food. Way better options nearby and over-rated happy hour that only includes the worst beer/wine options.

I recently visited Dukes Grocery and had a disappointing experience with the service provided by the bartender. From the moment I approached the bar, I was greeted with a lack of professionalism and attentiveness that left me feeling unsatisfied and unappreciated as a customer. Upon my arrival, the bartender tossed a barcode in front of me and mumbled something along the lines of "We have no menus, you have to scan this." Without any further explanation or guidance, he promptly walked away, leaving me confused and unsure of how to proceed. It was disheartening that he did not take the time to engage with me or inquire about my drink preferences. Throughout my visit, I found it necessary to flag down the bartender midway through my meal in order to request a Diet Coke. This was after enduring a lukewarm glass of tap water that he had placed in front of me without any consideration for my beverage preferences. It was evident that he was more focused on chatting up a female patron at the bar than attending to the needs of his other customers, myself included. Despite the bartender being mere feet away, he never bothered to inquire about my meal or check in on my satisfaction. Instead, he remained engrossed in his conversation, seemingly more concerned with his love interest than providing proper service. As someone who has worked in the service industry, I understand the importance of customer satisfaction and the value of engaging with patrons. This level of disregard for customer experience was highly disappointing. To further illustrate my disappointment, I must highlight that I am typically a phenomenal tipper and understand the importance of recognizing exceptional service. However, for the first time in my dining experiences, I left Dukes Grocery without leaving a tip. The lackluster service I received simply did not warrant a gratuity. My visit to Dukes Grocery was marred by the bartender's disinterested and inattentive behavior. The initial dismissal of providing a menu, the absence of prompt drink service, and the lack of engagement throughout my meal left me feeling unappreciated as a customer. It is my hope that Dukes Grocery takes this feedback seriously and works to improve their service standards to ensure a more enjoyable and satisfying dining experience for all patrons.

fresh off the red eye, the first thing we did was look for somewhere to eat close to our airbnb. the dupont circle neighborhood is filled w a diverse array of restaurants, but this casual pub stuck out to us. i would consider myself a BLT connoisseur it's pretty much my default sandwhich and im happy to report tht this one is definitely up there on my list. my bf got the wagyu burger and it was one of the juiciest, most flavorful burgers we've ever eaten. we felt like garbage from the flight but if it were any other day, we would've taken full advantage of their 12-7pm happy hour xD

Wow this place is incredible! The food was exceptional AND the atmosphere is amazing! We continue to come back because of the hospitality and sense of belonging! The leader is world class and the staff looks like they LOVE their workplace!! Well done Dukes!!! I tip my hat you ya'll!

I know it just opened a couple months ago, but I had been so looking forward to getting a Proper Burger near me (Navy Yard location). Easily my favorite burger in DC and use to love the Woodley Park location where I used to live. This location isn't there yet, or close. Service is really poor (manager is actually very nice and cool which is odd his staff is so bad). Proper Burger isn't close to the other locations nor is the fish and chips. Walked in today and it was 80 plus degrees inside (outside 60 degrees). Huge disappointment so far. Hope they can pull it around soon.Edit: Came back and it was great! Proper Burger is proper!

Very sad this location is temporarily closed. The patio in the summer is a great vibe, and the service is always very friendly. The proper burger is probably the best burger I've had in D.C. I like that their happy hour starts early and ends at a reasonable time (7PM) as some places end their happy hour close to 6PM. Overall this is a great neighborhood spot and I'm ready for them to open.

When we walked in there were 3 hostes, the first 2 young ladies were rude and I didn't like how they disregarded the other hostess when she knew what she was talking about ( tia ) She then happily helped my family and I get situated comfortably. The food was good only thing I didnt like was how soggy my bread was when my burger came out overall 8/10 experience would come again!
