Very limited menu and it just wasn’t traditional Peruvian food. However, the service was great!

It was such a cozy and nice place. From outside it’s hard to get it as you walk a few steps down, but inside is nice with good vibe. Staff are really friendly and polite. Food and drinks are really good. I really enjoyed it.

My dad first took me here in the 80s or 90s. We love this place—it is a family favorite. I now live out of the area but I’m so glad it’s still open and it will be the first place ai take my daughter when we come into town.

Caro, el anticucho 3 pedacitos quemados y delgaditos como sabana, el lomo saltado 3 cucharadas , la papa a la huancaina parecía de sobre, en total un fracaso. No lo recomiendo!!

My family and I ate there for lunch yesterday, we love Peruvian food we eat it as often as we can back home in LA. El Chalan is the bomb best Peruvian food that we have eaten in a long time since we where in New York. I had the pescado a lo macho the sauce was creamy and very yummy Calamari was exquisite. I recommend El Chalan hole heartedly.

I came to DC with my family for a trip. We are Peruvian from Southern California and I will say without a doubt this food is amazing! The waiters were very nice and friendly. We were able to speak to the chef himself and give him our compliments. Will definitely be coming back to eat here.

Excellent food and service. Really cheap price for the quantity and quality of the food. Around 18 per person. We ordered a saltado de camarones and a cabrito norteño... I can just say it was amazing, sweet flavors 10/10.

My family and I came here on a Saturday evening and had a great experience. We ordered ceviche, anticuchos, and papa a la huancaina for our appetizers. Everyone at the table got something different and it was all incredible. We tried the aji de gallina, lomo saltado with filet, cabrito norteño, seco a la huachana and the pescado a la chorillana with poached flounder. We also ordered a chicha morada for everyone at the table. To finish off our meal, we ordered a flan, alfajor, and tres leches. The flan was the best flan I have ever had and the alfajor and tres leches were prepared perfectly. Our server was great and attentive as well especially when we accidentally spilled a chicha morada at the table. I will definitely be back and highly recommend this spot for authentic Peruvian cuisine.

I frequented this place a lot during lunch and it was always packed. They had some awesome dishes like cevische and lomo saltado. The waiters are always very professional and cool. I miss this place a lot. I hope to go back and have a nice meal here. This place is definitely worth visiting.

Visiting DC on a two day trip, we narrowed out food selection to a few places close to our hotel and review ratings. However, El Chalan was recommended by family. We were extremely satisfied with our experience, especially the level of service we received. Our waiter was accommodating with his explanation of the food choices, made recommendations and the food was excellent. We came in early at lunch and the place was empty, but 30 minutes later and you could no longer find an empty table, we highly recommend you come early.
