Great place to go with friends or family cute intimate little setting staff was great we showed up with a last-minute reservation, They got us in on a Friday night. The owner is in the front of the house and he takes care of all his customers like family, highly recommend going, don’t rush and enjoy all they have to offer…

Fantastic! We went with our two tween/teens, and arrived at 6:30. It was pretty empty, but packed within 30 minutes. Josh, our server, was so funny and kind to us and our kids. The food was amazing! I got the farfalle with salmone, and it tasted just like I had it in Italy 20 years ago! The drinks and wine were wonderful as well. They charged $17 for plain pasta for the kids, but we realized that our table was cheaper than most since the kids don't drink alcohol, or get salads, so we thought it was actually fair. We were in DC for 4 nights, and ate at 3 local chain restaurants, and Giovannis. This was definitely our favorite, as you could taste that the food was made with love. :-)

It's not the best Italian restaurant by far. Bread was cold, and the soup was luke warm. I ordered a spicy entree, and my wife didn't, but the kitchen did the opposite. My dish was extremely flat and devoid of flavor. The service was very slow even though it wasn't busy. Better choices in D.C.

What a wonderful Italian restaurant. Incredibly old school and charmingly interesting. They've been open since the 1970's and the decor is certainly very interesting. Clear chiavari chairs and white or pink table cloths. Not usual for an Italian restaurant. Some pink walls. Some blue. They haven't fallen prey to the trappings of 2024 decor. The food was excellent. We had the prosciutto and mozzarella appetizer as well as the calamari. Excellent. We also ordered the fettuccini bolognese and it was a little spicy but excellent as well. The staff is so kind and really take great care to ensure you have a nice experience. If in DC, you should really give this restaurant a try.

We visited Giovanni's after a longer passage of time than we intended. We were absolutely overwhelmed by the welcome we received. The service was attentive but not too much. The food was outstanding. Our meal was flavorful, and preparation was outstanding. In short, we will have decided that we will make Giovanni's one of our regular dinner locations - once again.

Old world cozy Italian dining. Great service & atmosphere. Feels like a family-run restaurant that's been around for decades. Highly recommended.
