Overall my husband and I thought the place was great! The food was delicious and easily shareable, which we highly recommend doing! The drinks were great and the vibe was really nice and relaxing. ?

The food was absolutely incredible - every single one of the small plates we had (I think we had 8 total + the donuts for dessert) was delicious!!!! And great cocktails. Can't wait to go back.

Our third visit: food remains very good, although more than 4 entrees (and consistent portioning) would be an improvement. For example, Branzino fish was ample for four to share, but grilled lamb was insufficient. Perhaps double-order pricing would be appropriate? Sound levels made shouting necessary for conversation at a table for four. Music was pumping way too loud when we entered, and even after the music was turned down and the room filled with patrons it was loud. Hopping singles scene, not so friendly for mature diners.

This place is Majic. Do yourself a favor and visit. The rooftop is wonderful and so is the food. Our waiter was patient and helpful with suggestions for items on the menu. I will be back.

Super-mediocre food- not cheap though, so would not return. The shakshouka was not great, the bread was excellent. The chef's cheese/charcuterie plate was meh, I buy better feta and olives just from Whole Foods. Service was good, though we ordered broccolini, then it turned out they were out so they just brought us asparagus without letting us know- love broccolini, don't like asparagus.

Delicious and great variety of food, cocktails, and wine choices (including vegetarian dishes and N/A cocktails). Crispy cauliflower with lemon tahina, dried fruit relish, caper berry, and pistachio was beautifully displayed and scrumptious. Branzino fish was flaky and perfectly cooked. Stylish and comfortable rooftop dining area.

Sat upstairs on the lovely rooftop. Food (new menu allegedly) was very mediocre and honestly not worth the very high cost. Tuna crudo for $22 with four tiny bites. Was disappointing. Best part of the meal was the naan flat bread.

The quality of food was not good. The only thing that was enjoyable was the hummus and pita. The shrimp did not smell fresh & the flavor wasn't enjoyable for any of the other dishes. I used to like this spot but I won't be back.

The food was perfect for a small informal diner with a lot of small portions to share. My friend is allergic to nuts and vegetarian but was very please with the menu that is actually pretty reversible. The staff was very professional with great feedback on the wine and food. They had small attentions and good general attitude it was pleasant !

We were disappointed at Gypsy Kitchen bec when we made the reservation, we thought the patio and rooftop were open which was one of the main reasons we went there. We arrived only to find out it was all closed off for a private event. It would have been really nice to know that when making the res. The food was ok. Not great. We ordered labneh (probably our mistake) which was supposed to have some spices and pole beans but had no beans and very little spice and just had very little taste. The hummus was good and the bread that came with the labneh was great. The cauliflower had a strange dried chutney on it that again had very little flavor. The scallops were bland as well and did not have a good searing. The potatoes bravas were good but could have used some more red sauce. Just wished everything had more taste/flavor. Had a good margarita! I would go back to experience the roof, get drinks and just enjoy the ambience. Waitperson was very nice but each dish takes a while. Ambience inside is nice! Not too loud.

Solid Sunday evening date spot with great ambiance & friendly service. That's about it - the food is grossly overpriced for what you get and mediocre - Halloumi was deep fried and honestly could've been mozzarella sticks but tasty. $29 for two very small scallops is a ripoff - the food was OKAY but there many other “mediterranean” spots in DC that do food better. You're paying for location & vibe here.

We had a great meal. We shared the veggie salad, the labneh (with amazing freshly baked and well-seasoned pita!), the cauliflower, and the lacquered chicken. The labneh was my favorite, but I would order each of the dishes again. The drinks were good too, the service was friendly and unobtrusive, and the atmosphere was lively. What's not to like?

It was amazing. The staff is polite and attentive. Made sure the food had no cross contamination with my allergies or dietary concerns(halal) and the food was AMAZING. Def plan on being a regular.

Outstanding restaurant. 4 small plates were perfect for two people (our server tried very hard to convince us that we needed 5). The hummus with lamb was great, but the broccolini really surprised us; I don't think I've ever had broccolini that good!
