I hadn’t been here in years since they changed ownership. Looking at some of the reviews I was leery. Boy am I glad that I didn’t listen. Went here for dinner last night and everything was absolutely delicious. The fried chicken, fried catfish, lambs, crab cakes and sides of Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, collards, potato salad, and corn bread were all superb. It definitely tasted like eating at your grandmothers. The potato salad was just like my Gma’s; finely diced with celery, celery seed, and a slight tang of mustard accompanied by a slight sweetness. The collards are vegan hence no meat but were still delicious, tender, and flavorful. The drinks were delicious as well. The portion sizes were quite large with everyone having leftovers except for the lamb chops they were so delicious that my friend ate all of them. Matter of fact when she accidentally attempted to cut them with the wrong side of the knife it still went through. Couldn’t recommend more supporting this black owned business.

My waiter, Eric, provided excellent customer service. He was very attentive. The food came out hot and it was good. Will be coming back.

This has to be some kind of joke. Do catfish even come this small? And that is the most disgusting Mac and cheese I've ever had. Really disgraceful.

I would have never known about this place if I hadn't gone to lincolns cottage (which is right across the street)The happy hour menu is LONG and will get you right!!!I had the crabcakes with a side of fries and 2 glasses of cava. My friend had the lamb chops and a side of friesThose lamb chops looked soooo Delectable. Goodness I wish I had asked for a bite. But that just means that I have to go back!

Found this spot looking for chicken and waffles and oooohhh weeee! They only have waffles on the weekend but honey!! The hubby and i each had fried chicken with two sides and it was hands down the BEST chicken I've had in all of DC! I'm sure somebody's grandma is in the kitchen! The service was great, the cabbage and costs and cornbread was great and I can't wait to go back! Do yourself a favor, make a reservation and go immediately! A definite A+ from us!

I like eating at the place, however last night I paid $70 for two crab cake dinners. The crab cakes were so salty and the sides were just ok. I’ll stick to something else next time.

It was my first time. I had order 2 whiting fish, 2 catfish, mac&cheese, collard greens, rum cake, chocolate cake and bread pudding. The whiting was OK. The catfish was dry. The mac&cheese was great. The collard greens had no season and not cut up. The rum cake and chocolate cake were ok. The bread pudding was dry. I really want to give a good review, since is a minor owned, but I couldn't.

On a quiet street across from the Lincoln Cottage, it was an easy choice and wonderful experience after our tour. Since it was a chill day, we were inside but that allowed us to spy other's choices. I got the Lamb chop appetizer, which came perfectly cooked and was delicious. My pals had the HP burger and Mango Curry rice bowl. All good. It was only when we saw other tables getting the light golden fried chicken with sides that we thought we missed the real specialty. The new chef is from Guyana, so there's a nice Caribbean twist to the soul food here. Gotta go back.
