If you go anywhere in DC. Go here. I’m not playing around, this was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I ate the most beautiful fish with the most spectacular service and amazing beer and every single penny was worth it. ありがとうございますAlso, I never like Eel, I like Eel now.

Food was good, atmosphere was alright, price was so so. Place is very small, and you won't have much privacy if you go there to spend some special time. Even if you have reservations, yoy may end up waiting minimum 30 mins depending on how busy it is. I will probably not go there to spend that much money after waiting for another 45 mins to share my table with someone sitting almost next to me.

Server and staff were super nice and attentive. The food, as usual, was excellent. Sushi is fresh and authentic. The rice was well prepared and the fish and sauces tasty. My only slight complaint was that the nori was a tad on the stale side, but not in a way that detracted from the stellar flavor. The miso soup, tempura, salmon skin roll, and seaweed salad were among the best we’ve had in this area! Kaz and Sushi Taro (at lunch) remain my go-tos for a la carte sushi in DC. ??Dietary restrictions: They had gluten-free soy sauce available on request!

A wonderful sushi restaurant that is on the higher-end and more upscale than it needs to be. The staff are really nice and the restaurant provides cozy and warm vibes, but the food was on the pricier end.We had their specialty nigiri but found them to not be all too special; however, the winning dish of the night went to their salmon roll with pickled pineapple and basil. Somehow, that flavor palette blew my mind, and I still can't stop thinking about how delicious it was.

Kaz Sushi Bistro is so amazing! This place is my favorite non-michelin star sushi restaurant in DC. I've never come across walu or arctic char nirgiri before coming here - and now I can't get enough! My favorite fish of the night was definitely the artic char - it resembles salmon but is so much smoother and the flavor is slightly sweeter. The hawaiian walu was also devine - sweet and silky. I am hooked on artic char and ever since, I have been on the hunt to find some wherever I go! The kaz tasting menu is so fun and creative. We chose 0011 and it blew us away. Each piece was fresh and tasty. We kept ordering extra walu and artic char because it was that good. We finished the dinner with delicious dessert. My mango-coconut panna cotta was creamy and tart! The banana tempura was filled with sweet and warm bananas. The service was great, though they kind of dropped the ball near the end of our dinner, and we had to flag them down. I highly recommend Kaz Sushi Bistro. I can't wait to come back!

I ordered nigiri lunch special and the mixed seaweed salad. The menu does say that it has cucumbers, radish and carrots in it with a yuzu dressing. There were a few little pieces of seaweed with the majority of the dish being filler of the other listed ingredients. It was a large portion, but very disappointing. The yuzu dressing instead of being a nice bright citrus flavor it was very sweet. It was much more like eating American coleslaw than a seaweed salad. The nigiri was fresh and I did enjoy it. I'm not from the area so the price was a little surprising for lunch. $40 for the 2 items & a glass of water.

The food was spectacular. The service was perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant. The ingredients were all fresh and delectable. My daughter had the lobster and grilled avocado and can’t stop talking about weeks later. Her sushi and roll selections delighted her. She exclaimed how fresh every bite of seafood was.As a vegan, I had the warm cauliflower and kale salad and I seriously contemplated getting a second serving! It was so flavorful and just a perfect way to start my meal. The crispy Brussels sprouts with sweet potatoes are a must have! I ordered inside out avocado and oshinko rolls and they were both delicious. The avocado was perfection! We will definitely add Kaz Sushi Bistro to our regular rotation every time we are in DC.Vegetarian options: There are plenty of vegan and gluten-free options!

I got the Kaz Traditional Sushi Tasting 007 and the Toro Roll w/ Scallion. While the sushi is tasty, and the fish is relatively fresh, the quality of the fish is not the highest. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and would recommend visiting Kaz Sushi Bistro.

I was very excited to visit Kaz for lunch. While the restaurant got busier while I was there, it was mostly empty at noon.Price-wise, Kaz is on-point given the quality of fish. I ordered chu-toro sashimi (they were out of otoro) and the following nigiri: uni, lobster, seared salmon, and sake poached scallop. I also ordered the grilled baby octopus and received a complimentary miso soup.I am just starting my journey into the world of octopus, and I've never had baby octopus before. While I enjoyed my appetizer, it wasn't stunning, and I'll probably choose an additional order of nigiri instead in the future. It was nicely seasoned but a bit too chewy for my liking. The miso soup was above average, but due to the humidity outside, I was really not in the mood for soup.Uni nigiri - So delicious! A supple portion, balanced perfectly with the rice.Chu-toro sashimi - So delicious! High quality, but I will likely not choose this even if otoro is unavailable in the future because it's just not the same.Lobster nigiri - I found the lobster to be a bit dry and not very flavorful.Seared salmon nigiri - The salmon was too seared for my liking. I was expecting the salmon to be kissed by a blowtorch, but this was more along the lines of baked/charred salmon. Sake poached scallop - I've never had this before and was curious. The poaching eliminated the slightly bitter flavor that scallops typically have, but the preparation resulted in the scallop not having much flavor at all.Kaz is definitely on the higher end of sushi establishments in town, but I think I have too many other favorites to return. However, surely this is the best sushi in the Foggy Bottom area.

The sushi was good and the tea as well but the service was slow. We are tourists so we had brought cash to pay and the employee refused it and asked us to pay by card. That was a turn off.

I had this sushi as a precursor warm up to an omakase experience later that week. Great idea!I ordered a sashimi plate, red snapper head, and a tuna belly maki roll. Soft, melt in your mouth sushi, nice seaweed on the roll, and the snapper head was very good - shockingly meaty. The service was on point and quick. A little busy when I went and almost overcrowded in a way. Food is worth the trip.
