Nice coffee and delicious pastries. A select few gluten free options, like the hazelnut orange cake and one or two others.

“You didn’t get hot chocolate,” said my friend who suggested we meet at this Georgetown cafe with chocolate in its name. Rookie mistake. Despite the blunder, my chai tea was excellent- smooth and creamy. To make up for the loss, I got a chocolate croissant. The chocolate is warm, dark, and very rich. The space itself has many places to sit, but no WiFi intentionally. If you go, unplug and connect with a book or friend.

They close at 8 but they do not let you sit inside after 6pm. They even do not inform you about that while you are ordering 2 hours before they close. And do not forget they do not have a refund policy, they steal your money simply.

The chocolate mouses look so cute, and they tasted amazing. We also got a mocha cake and it tasted good too. We got hot chocolate, but it tasted a little too chocolaty. The coffee we got was also cold when we got it.

A delightful chocolate shop with a myriad of options. Adds an extra layer of indulgence. A haven for chocolate enthusiasts, offering a variety that caters to every craving. The top-notch hot chocolate, available in both dark and milk varieties. A must-visit for those with a sweet tooth.

Frequently, I take my kids to upscale establishments for hot chocolate, aiming to create lasting memories for their future. However, in DC, this pursuit has often proven challenging as the prices are typically high, yet the quality and/or service fail to match the cost. During my visit, three visible employees were in the establishment--two behind the counter and one in the kitchen (eating just out of sight). Upon our arrival, there was just one other customer, but as we left, more patrons began to arrive. L.A. Burdick, too falls into the category of overpriced and lacking in quality and service, as my first-ever Yelp review for any establishment is a 2 out of 5 stars. Here's why: 1 - The hot chocolate, priced at $7 for a small 8-ounce cup, was disappointingly made from powder mixed with milk, a process easily replicable at home with a standard packet of Nestle. Considering the cost, the portion size seemed insufficient, and I even measured it to find that it was, at best 7+ ounces, translating to around $1 per ounce (see photo attached). 2 - The taste did not match the high price point, falling short in terms of flavor. 3 - The state of the bathrooms was unpleasant, with my daughter reporting that someone had urinated on the floor. Additionally, there were overflowing trash cans and a lack of paper towels for hand drying. 4 - Purchasing two signature chocolate mice (one came in a box, and one came opened from behind the counter). I asked for an empty box for gifting the unboxed one but was flatly refused, despite them selling the chocolates that way. This, coupled with the unavailability of a box for the dark chocolate mouse, left a negative impression. In summary, the overall quality, lack of customer service, cleanliness issues, and difficulty finding parking in Georgetown do not justify the premium prices charged by L.A. Burdick. I don't plan on returning.

Truly the best hot chocolate I've ever had! The service was speedy and friendly. Layout of the store was very efficient, where the front was the store (so for shoppers who want to get in and out). The back of the store is the cafe with seating even further back. I got the dark chocolate hot drink, within my first sip, I was in heaven! I haven't had a hot chocolate that good in so long, well worth the 6-7$ I paid because I don't think I could make anything similar. The taste was velvety, rich, slightly bitter, somewhat floral?, and not too sweet. I'm a fan, would return! I think I'll try the spicy dark chocolate next time and maybe a pastry!
