This is the most incredible and welcoming spot in the Dupont neighborhood. I was greeted by Amy and Ali (the bartenders) immediately upon walking in. Then as I sat at the bar, I was welcomed by an amazing group of locals. The atmosphere is welcoming and kind, and the welcome is tangible. Every single person who came in said hello and as I was leaving, I was given tons of hugs. Larry's is the Best of the Best. It's unpretentious and you will feel Authenticity in every way. If you want to experience what DC has to offer, start at Larry's.

The bartender on shift denied us (a group of Spanish-speaking people) a drink after listening to us speaking Spanish. We DID NOT stay. Don't go there if you're Hispanic and queer.

Larry's is dope! Their drinks are a great value, the vibe is low-key and unassuming, and they're very accommodating. Much appreciated when so many places in DC price us commoners out.

The bar itself is great . Owner is very nice . But the staff could use an overhaul . The guy who works is nice enough but the female I felt once again tonight was rude and very condescending. I visit from time to time . But after tonight not sure I will be back . Maybe if she wasn’t taking shots of Jamison Strait during her shift she wouldn’t be so confrontational..funny how all the negative reviews are about her !!! Maybe not drink at work girl !!! It’s not working for you

As outsiders moving to the city my husband and I made fast friends with locals day 1. Bartenders are great, very personable and fun. Great place to relax, be yourself and enjoy the day or evening with a drink.

Bar is good . The female bartender with the drinking problem could be replaced .. every time I go in that place she is shooting shots. And is just all around a rude person . . Will not be returning :(

In this bar where old queens hold their court,You'll find a charm of a different sort.Youth may enter, but they're just a sport,In this realm, experience is the fort.Down in the basement, with a vintage flair,Dated furniture sprawls with casual care.A retro vibe fills the air,A cozy nook for those who dare.Drinks are strong, and the prices, sweet,In this haven where old and new meet.Cheap and cheerful, a rare treat,In this bar, life feels complete.A mix of history, stories, and gin,Here, every soul has a chance to win.A place where all can fit in,In this bar, let the night begin!

I came to Larry’s tonight in a group of predominately folks of color, and we were immediately treated in a strangely antagonistic way by the white bartenders behind the bar. Both of the bartenders, white femme-presenting people, were clearly very drunk (both slurring their words, aggressive, and stumbling behind the bar). We truly came in to just have a casual drink after a long day of work and the bartenders (especially one, a blonde white woman) immediately behaved aggressively toward my friends, Black nonbinary and Latinx nonbinary friends, suggesting that they were drinking underage and threatening to call the police for entirely baseless “underaged” drinking (both of my friends are 25 years old with legal and scanned/verified government IDs). The behavior was completely confounding and out of nowhere—again, we had just arrived for a casual drink after a long day of work at what we thought would be a safe space as a gay bar (all members of our party are queer and/or gay). When I inquired as to the reasoning behind the bar staff’s aggressive treatment of our group, the bartender was incredibly defensive and suggested that DC was “not racist,” as compared to wherever we might be coming from (Los Angeles, lol). They refused to take any accountability for their unacceptable racist, unprofessional, inappropriate behavior and instead suggested that we were “assuming” that they were racist, which they couldn’t be because they “have Black friends.” The more drunk one of the bartenders just laughed and walked off from behind the bar to talk with their friends on the other side of the bar, pointing and looking at us as they did. My friends—again, QTPOC folks—had felt immediately unsafe, freaked out, and scared at why the bartenders were behaving aggressively toward them. They wanted to leave immediately, were scared, and even when I (the only white member of the group) tried to intervene with the slightly more sober bartender, the bartenders were defensive and blamed us for their own aggression.I think it goes without saying that this is completely unacceptable behavior, ESPECIALLY at a supposedly queer-affirming establishment. It is laughable that the bartenders balked at the suggestion that race played a factor in what was a bar almost entirely populated that night (11/28) by white people. I hope management takes into serious consideration the gravity of this behavior and undertakes appropriate training and discipline to correct highly inappropriate behavior.
