WOW! We are so pleased. Lydia’s is amazing all around. Excellent food, great ambiance, and wonderful staff. We will definitely be back!Dietary restrictions: The waitress warned us about the peanuts in the suya. Great.
I stopped by this bar on a Saturday night and the atmosphere and vibes were amazing, 2nd floor was a cool lounge area and the bartenders were on point especially JC! His energy and attentiveness was great as-well as the food and drinks recommended were 10/10. He recommended a Smokey old fashioned which was delicious as-well as the Jerk chicken which went CRAZY. I will definitely be back for the food and drinks and especially for the bartender JC!!

Amazing oxtails. Really extensive and yummy late night menu too. And they have a mocktail option, love that!Their Taco Tuesday menu was open late on Tuesday too, and their jerk chicken, oxtail, and fried fish tacos were all good. Their mac and cheese was good too.Twice their food has been great. This is about to be an H St staple for me. Good music too.

The jerked wings, salmon bites, beef patties and last but certainly not least Brussels sprouts were out of this world and are not to be missed! Would recommend to anyone who loves Afro-Caribbean cuisine or just good food in general.
Lydia on H St is the place to be for quality food and services all around! Grab a plate of their signature oxtail dinners or a quick fix with salmon bites! I love their curry cabbage as well! If you’re into hookahs, one of my favorite flavors mix is blueberry, orange and mint! The renovations are a must see! Thank you so much for creating an environment to bring my family and friends out just to hung out and celebrate life. Definitely will be back!

Black owned was the mission for the weekend and this place was everything good food great service and an awesome
I came in randomly after the farmers market for some food and drinks with some friends, and I did not expect the service and hospitality and not to mention the food and how phenomenal it was for us. Our bartender JC was so great. We ended up getting the wings and the Brussels sprouts to start off with which was an excellent choice from him. Also the smoked old fashion is made so phenomenally LOVED IT. They have a good selection of alcohol as well we loved the espresso martinis and the mezcal shots. The music was great the ambience is so wonderful full of such nice people. I will come back for sure and hope to have JC as my bartender again

We recently had a girls' night out at this venue, and it was fantastic! The atmosphere was lively, and the hostess provided exceptional service. The server customer service was outstanding, and very knowledgeable about the menu offerings. We decided to sample the Brussels sprout dish, and it was absolutely delicious. Additionally, the hookah was a great addition to our evening. If you're looking for a place with great food and a relaxing setting, this is definitely worth checking out. We'll definitely be returning!

Went on Valentine’s Day, the vibe was romantic and they had a saxophone player. The chef/owner waited on us hand and foot. The food was hot. I wish the shrimp and salmon rasta pasta had more salmon. The grilled salmon was good. The whole snapper with jollof rice was filling and enjoyable. It’s on H Street so it is hidden in the cut and I can see parking to be difficult at times. Will definitely return

Came to Lydia on a Friday because my friend kept boasting about how much he enjoyed this place. And he was right. It’s two levels, the bottom floor is more which is more of an intimate restaurant kinda of vibe and the 2nd level which is more of a lounge. BOTH levels are a vibe! The food was good, we had the jerk wings which fell of the bone (chef kiss), order to rounds of Brussels sprouts, and the Mac and Cheese. The Mac and Cheese I didn’t care. It didn’t look like some of the picture I’ve seen. The pictures looked more on the baked side with a crispy top crust (which I like) so I was kinda of disappointed. I don’t think they allowed my order to cook long enough but I’ll try it again next time to see if it’s a difference. The drinks were good! We sat at the bar and lucked up with a bartender name JC. Amaaaaaaazing customer service! Knowledgeable and attentive. He paid attention to all the customer needs at the bar, we not once felt like we had to compete with other customers. Definitely a top tier bartender. Will I go to Lydia again?! Yes! Between the vibes, food, and JC it would be insane not too. Oh and they also have reverse happy hour everyday!!
