The best hard roll sub in DC has got to be the G Man. My family has been eating them for well over 40 years. It's a family run carry out that has consistently made the same sandwich's for my family my whole entire life. If I'm in the neighborhood, I pick some up for everyone. It's a tradition my father started and I happily carry it on.

A top notch Italian sub!! The staff was so friendly, the wait was pretty quick/reasonable, and the entire place just feels like a Capitol Hill time capsule. There isn't a place to sit, so you'll have to take your sandwiches on the go, but this place is a true gem. The sandwiches could have used a touch more vinaigrette for my liking, but still an A+ sandwich!

One of the only real “hole in the wall” places left in DC, you will NEVER find a better Italian sub than what you can grab here, but the G Man is the real star. The hard roll is the way to go, but they do offer soft rolls as well. Just a wonderful, family-owned no frills sandwich shop, an institution in rapidly changing DC.
