A shop I visited today was gifting snacks and treats today, sweet potato cupcakes being one of the treats. I’ve never had a sweet potato cupcake before and was just happy to have received a free cupcake.. but I didn’t expect it to be the best cupcake I’ve had in a looong time. Top 3 cupcakes for sure. I don’t even like sweet potato! Can’t do sweet potato pie or french fries, but the cupcakes are out of this world :)

Never been to the actual store. However, their products use to be in Safeway. Now I cant find them. When I say the BEST tasting Cake ever!!! Now folks try to copy them and come up short each time. This is the best moist cakes I have ever tasted in a while coming from a Bakery and sold in Stores. I will always be a support of this company!!!!

Though I was looking for another business and was lost, Sweet Potato Cake Bakery caught my eye, and I'm so glad I stopped by. As a critical foodie, and my reviews are highly critical, I have to give DC Sweet Potato Cake Bakery & Cafe their flowers! I dont know about any other dishes offered, but what I can tell you about is their Sweet Potato and Whisky Cup Cake. Damn, they were so good, so good that I am writing this review at 11:40 PM on the same day. To the owner, thank you for reminding me what goodness tastes like. To the young lady behind the counter who worked today, thank you for being friendly and providing direction...You reminded me of a Californian attitude. Friendly! Lol.

Unfortunately, I regret having to leave this type of feedback about my experience at this location. Today, on March 12th around 11:25 AM, I visited DC Sweet Potato to order my usual Salmon Pesto. Initially, I wasn't greeted upon arrival, and instead, I had to initiate the greeting with the employee. Maybe she didn’t see me . So that was no big deal . The transaction proceeded smoothly, but upon tasting my meal, I noticed that the rice was cold. I politely informed the employee, even offering for her to feel the temperature of the rice. However, her response was dismissive, stating she didn't want to touch the food. Instead of offering a replacement meal or suggestions, she immediately suggested a refund. When I inquired about getting hot rice, she mentioned they didn't have a microwave and that it would take 20 minutes to cook. Her attitude and energy were quite unpleasant, leading me to decide on a refund. This negative experience is unusual, as I've frequented this location without issues before. Unfortunately, on both encounters with this particular employee, she has been consistently rude and mean-spirited. As long as she remains there, I'll be taking my business elsewhere and will advise others around the area and my coworkers to do the same. What was once a reliable dining option has now become a place to avoid due to her demeanor, which was never an issue until recently. In fact, during my last visit on February 13th, she treated me so poorly that it brought me to tears, leaving me baffled by her unwarranted hostility. & not only that but when i did ask for a refund . She also said i didn’t even pay for the meal after i wanted the refunded and refused to refund me until after i showed her that the money was taken out my account .if you have cameras , check the cameras to look at the entire episode. Very nasty and rude individual. She is a very passive aggressive person. After the first rude encounter and us talking it out on February 13th with the owner i thought this time would be different but she was still very rude in a passive aggressive way . Never in my life will ever eat here again . until she is gone ! I don’t trust her with my food. Her energy is bad for business .

We got this beautiful full sheet cake for our organization's 60th anniversary party. I sent them our logo and got it printed on this white buttercream icing over marble. They had so many amazing sounding combinations but we went simple to please a broader crowd. The only spot in the district I could find that really makes full sheets (most places only do a half or quarter sheet). Picked it up the day of and it was fantastic. Our pick up time did get delayed a bit which was unfortunate but the cake itself was worth the wait. Extremely pleased and hopefully next time we can get something a little more creative.

I have not visited the shop but , I did purchase one of the sweet potato cup cakes from Starbucks. The cupcake was delicious it consisted of a moist delicious sweet potato cake with a creamy cheesecake topping. I definitely intend to visit the shop in DC.

Was in town for the weekend and looking for a gift for my friend who was hosting me. Found this spot after a quick search and was pleasantly surprised. The woman behind the counter was so enthusiastic and warm - she described all of the offerings (cupcakes, loaves, cakes) and even offered a tasting if I was curious about a flavor. Everything is made out of sweet potato, but tastes just like a regular cake. I opted for a whole pie, which was delicious (tasted like pumpkin pie). Even the customers were raving about the food. It was pretty spacious with seating inside and out, located right on Farragut Square. Recommend to anyone looking for a unique baked treat!
