The drinks are a little overpriced but it seems fun, the vibes are a little over priced, but cute gay bar

I'm annoyed with this place because they turned me away with my real virginia ID. I asked what was wrong with it and the bouncer said "i just can't accept this". wtf. i literally was like scan it or something and he was like no you have to go down the block to do that. super annoying and the bouncer wasn't willing to talk about it much further at all...

Drink prices are sky high. Served a margarita with no salt on the rim. I asked what the rail/bar Scotch is and bartender said they don't have one. (It does, however, have some Scotch.)Pluses: Very mixed white & Black clientele contrasted with DC's all-white gay bars. Quick service on a busy Friday night.

It's cold in here. Air conditioner blasts year round. People leave because it's cold. Lol

Didn't really have the food so I can't speak on that. The space is really nice, elegant, and loungy. I really like the music they had playing: pop and old 90s and 2000's hip hop and R&B hits. The bartender was kind and welcoming. The one thing that got to me, and I hope it is not standard practice, is what is done to the drinks. My first drink was extremely watered down, purposely ordered a double so that it hit. Nope! My second I asked for a specific type of liquor. I have a feeling that the bar banks on folks not knowing the liquor, but I know the liquor and what I got was not the liquor I ordered. My friend had a similar experience with his drink. Mr friend did go back and complain and bartender give him a second drink of the exact thing he didn't want. But, we kept it cool and just went our Mery way. Soon after we went to another gay bar and ordered the same drinks, but actually got what we ordered, which reaffirmed what he had known about number 9. I appreciate honest businesses that respect their clients enough to give 'em what they've asked and paid for. Don't think this is the case at number 9. I hope they get this aspect of their business together. Aside from that, the space is chill and the staff is friendly. I would go back, just would be more vigilant about buying drinks. Or getting my buzz on at home before heading there.

the bartender was so rude for some reason. and they fill the top shelf bottles with low tier liquor so don't bother paying extra for patron and grey goose like we did.they NEED a new DJ. a room full of guys dying to dance and only the world's most awful generic uhn-tiss dance beat on repeat. a Spotify playlist of "90s pop hits" would've been infinitely better.

My recent visit to Number 9 Bar was an absolute disaster from start to finish. It's with great disappointment that I recount my experience here, as it was nothing short of a series of unfortunate events. To begin, I ordered a specific drink ( Aviation cocktail ) which has a purple to light blue color to it. Due to the crème de violet liqueur. However my drink was orange and did not taste anything like what I had order. I was served something completely different. This is my typical to go to drink when going to upscale bars. As i have a certain expectation that they'll be able to make the drink properly. Ordinarily, I understand that mix-ups can happen, but what transpired next left me in disbelief. I kindly showed the bartender the recipe for the drink I had ordered, thinking that would resolve the issue. Instead of acknowledging their mistake, the bartender insisted that they had made the correct drink, despite clear evidence to the contrary. This level of stubbornness and lack of customer service is disheartening and frustrating. However, the drink fiasco was just the tip of the iceberg. My friends and I were ID checked not once, but twice during our visit. The first ID check occurred at the entrance, which is standard practice and completely acceptable. However, the second check took place at the bar, and this is where things spiraled into absurdity. The bartender outright accused us of using fake IDs, going so far as to claim that our valid identification was somehow counterfeit. This was not only an unfounded accusation but also incredibly insulting. We were treated as if we were criminals attempting to deceive the establishment. The culmination of these events was the unprofessional behavior of the bartender. When we attempted to rectify the drink mistake and showed them the recipe, the bartender refused to correct his mistake. This type of disrespect towards customers is inexcusable and unacceptable. In summary, my experience at Number 9 Bar was a complete nightmare. It's evident that there are significant issues with both the competence of the staff and the establishment's customer service standards. Patrons should never be subjected to such a frustrating and demeaning experience. I strongly advise against visiting this bar until they address these serious issues and can provide a basic level of competence and respect for their customers.

One of the premier LGBTQIA+-friendly/owned bars in the District and an excellent venue to partner with for any organized event. My organization and I recently hosted a professional networking event here. The Number Nine ownership and staff were all phenomenal from the initial planning and coordination phases all the way through implementation. Without their exemplary professionalism, hospitality, and service, our event would not have had the success that it did. We are truly grateful and happy to have partnered with this fantastic venue and establishment. Whether or not it's for professional or leisure purposes, do yourselves a favor and treat yourself to Number Nine DC vibes. We are looking forward to partnering with them again in the future.
