They started adding hidden fees on the bill. A “delivery fee” when we were dine- in for everything. They don’t show you the itemized receipt when they bring the tablet to pay as well. The menu nor server let you know about it. When I asked about it after paying and getting the receipt I was told “I don’t know, it’s DC law or something, they just started doing it”

In an almost empty restaurant was told we could not sit at a table for four but instead had to sit by the front door and the draft it caused at a table for two. But, a table for one was seated at a table for four. Why the different treatment?Caring for your customers matters and a bad experience goes a long way to define a reputation and the bad experience will be retold many times. If customer service matters to you, this is not the place to dine.

The service here SUCKS, and the mediocre food and meh atmosphere don't make up for it. The lazy staff has tunnel vision and needs an attitude change.

Great prices, yummy food. Could use some more ambiance on the patio but overall great experience. The service was efficient and kind. The cocktails were a tad sweet for our taste but can't beat the price for DC.

Nice service people, tasty food (other than the house coffee because it was way to acidic for some reason and had grounds in the cup) and great atmosphere.

Love bringing visitors here! Highly recommend the breakfast burrito and pecan praline waffle. I always split these dishes with my guests and we walk out happy and full.

Cute little spot across from our hotel. Staff is super friendly and nice. The prices weren't crazy. Although, I wouldn't go back for the food, I'd def go back for the drinks; they were on point! The salmon left something to be desired, but the curry sauce is really good. I swapped the cauliflower out for asparagus, so I cannot comment on that. I wish it came with a starch of some kind. My son had The Royal Jr and he said everything was good except the eggs, he's 9. Overall, nice spot to have a quick brunch on a budget.Kid-friendliness: Kids menu

I have been going to Open City since 2019, and I have always loved it! However, recently, the service has really gone downhill. We went for brunch on Sunday and our waiter completely ignored us (as a former retail / food service worker, you can tell when it's on purpose). He was openly rude and would ignore us when we asked for another coffee / water / the bill. I won't be coming back here for a while.
