Customer service is nonexistent, I don’t know if the male that waited on me is neurodivergent, but I kept saying thank you while ordering and when he gave me my food. He just looked at me. I was the ONLY one in the establishment so a greeting, “hi, how are you” or a wave from the kitchen staff would go a long way. However, they just look mean with no emotions. But hey, at least the food is good.. ??‍♀️?

These people burnt my food after waiting for so long. The kitchen and restaurant is nasty. The food has zero flavor. The owners are RUDE!

I moved from NYC to DC and I brought my food snob attitude. Then I stumbled across Open Crumb and expectations were low. To my surprise, I had the best meal I've had all year (including NYC restaurants). The Red Red is a perfect blend of spices and balance between sweet and savory. I've taken food to other friends in DC and they loved the peanut soup with chicken (more like gravy than soup and good over rice). Don't overlook this DC gem!

I was looking for some good food and decided to try this place out. First I like to add the staff were so friendly. It was two brothers working one taking orders the other preparing the food. Because this was my first time I had a lot of questions and the two were very helpful in answering questions and offering suggestions based off what I asked. I ordered fried whiting fish with jollaf rice cooked in a tomato based sauce and a salad. I also ordered red beans and rice, fried chicken with white rice and salad and a side of macaroni and cheese. I love the jollof rice and the African stew sauce you get to put on your fish or chicken. I also received another type of sauce with spices. The sauces were good I wasn't sure what went on what so I just added it to all my food. The place look like a small Carryout not really a restaurant dine in but definitely restaurant quality food.I will return to try more items. I saw them preparing stew spinach with the jollof rice it looks absolutely delicious I must try next time along with the crab cake sandwich. My overall experience is a 4 the food is prepared from scratch and it's made to order. The kitchen was very clean, neat and organized.

My boyfriend and I got Thanksgiving dinner from this place - that is half a turkey, 4 delicious sides, 6 rolls, 6 butter cookies, and a cheesecake. It was all fantastic and for a fair price. We also liked that they gave the option for a full or half turkey. It was just the 2 of us for thanksgiving so we were grateful for that because there is no way we could have finished a full turkey in a few days. Thank you!!

No-frills atmosphere, but delicious food. Bread pudding and Mac n cheese were great, and the chicken with or without the extra sauce was juicy and flavorful.

This little hole in the wall was delicious. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the jollof rice wasn't too spicy. The salad portion was generous. A wonderfully balanced, healthy meal.

Washington, DC - Wish i had taken a photo of the delicious moist yummy brown butter chocolate chip cookie. It didn't look like much but was so delicious. A deal at $1.50. Wasn't listed on the pick up menu but spotted them at the pick up window. The employee let me know they were just made last night! Definitely my lucky day!

I got the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Jolly Rice. The rice was amazing buttery and tomatoey at the same time to a point where it kind of melted in your mouth. The sandwich tops Chick-fil-A's and is jam packed with seasoning and flavor defilingly would recommend.

This Is A Vegetarian ReviewTotal hole in the wall. Just a few spare tables and chairs, though I love the African decoration. Service from front cashier was... impersonal. But the food was delicious! The house bun dipped in the peanut soup, the spicy topper, the jollof rice. My goodness! And the one time the chef came over to fetch me a spoon at the window, he was delightful!Totally coming back!Vegetarian options: Full vegetarian menu

The mac-n-cheese is saaaaaaalTEE! I am salt sensitive, admittedly. But this tasted out of the norm. They also use penne pasta. I thought it could be better, especially since it took them 30 minutes to make that and the whiting sandwich. The Whiting sandwich was large, chunky, and a bit sloppy to eat. The fish was fried crisply. It was well seasoned and layered thick between the onions, tartar sauces.
