The Gelato is really good. The space is fairly distressed and has limited seating. Bathrooms had no toilet paper. If you are a 20 something college kid this is probably right up your alley. My suggestion is they clean the place up a bit - it doesn't have to be distressed to have character.

Great coffee, sorbet, ambience! Heads up - they do not accept cash.

The outdoor seating area would be wonderful if they didn't let selfish smokers (to make a distinction between courteous ones) ruin it.

I visited Pitango in mid day on Tuesday.I had the best time enjoying very solid cappuccino, galato and Breakfast croissant .Maybe unusual mix for 1.30 pm :)Cappuccino is just wonderful!Strong and creamy and just perfect size. The ceramic mug was just big enough for me to enjoy the sunny spring day and not to big to make me feel like I consumed buckets of caffeine. I had a small cup of Gelato with it.Now, consistency was just amazing.Super creamy and thick. My chocolate-hazelnut was just to die for although I didn't enjoy raspberry flavor as much. When first flavor was just packed with aroma, cream, nuts and chocolate, raspberry was pretty uneventful. Rather flat without any strong flavor I could hang my taste buds onto it.Very mild, indistinguishable when I was looking for tangy, rich raspberry extravaganza.I will say it was easy flavor what didn't hit the spot.Breakfast croissant on another hand hit the spot double time!First of all, size is out of this world.I had to open up the sandwich, so I could manage without getting my dress into dry cleaning mode.Croissant was super crispy and beautiful, inside flaky and doughy. Egg cooked to perfection with thick, deep yellow yolk spilling into croissant and thick bed of arugula. Amount of prosciutto was very satisfying if not overwhelming.I also think there was a pesto or some sauce in the sandwich, however it could be the yolk mixed up with goodness of all.Swrvice was very kind and relaxed as well.I couldn't be happier with the meal.Giving 4 stars only because raspberry Gelato fall short. Otherwise it would be solid 5 stars.Parking: I was able to find street parking due to time of the day . ( 1.30 pm)It is very hard to park on the street after 5pm.There is a paid parking lot around the corner if needed.

High prices, tasty food, sluggish staff. Tables rarely wiped down, garbage overflowing.

One of my favorite spots in D.C.! One of the first things I noticed was the employees. I don’t know how the company does it, but every single worker is the most friendly, courteous individual you will find at establishments like these. An increasingly rare thing these days. The friendly service is matched by their incredible gelato. You can tell that it is made with real, fresh ingredients. The chocolate they use is unreal. Not overly sweet but with flavors that have you asking where have others been hiding it. The pistachio gelato is made with real pistachios, not some sort of pistachio flavoring. I always get a cup of their drip coffee to go with it. Really good.I stop by Pitango often and have never had a bad experience. I’m betting you won’t either.

What a nice little neighborhood spot. Great coffee, a fantastic chai, and some to-die-for focaccia sandwiches. Service is always prompt, even with a line. If you're looking for a place to sit and work at a quaint coffee shop, Pitango is a great option. Most recently, I tried their Milano and Mortadella sandwiches. Both were fantastic- the focaccia is the star of the show, complimented by simple, high quality ingredients, and not too greasy like a lot of other focaccias. The only downside to this place is the price. For two sandwiches and two chai lattes, the total came to around $51. Would recommend- just not an every-day spot.

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in the city. Each time I arrive staff is incredibly friendly and kind. A shout out to Tony who I always see going above whether it’s wiping down tables, or delivering menu items. Oh, and he makes the best matcha tea lattes! Pitango is a great place to get some work done, catch up with a friend, or if you’re in the mood for gelato. This is definitely a neighborhood GEM! Playlist is also always on point. Highly recommend.

Asked for a pint of pistachio. Girl packed me half a pint. I opened the pint and said it’s half empty. She said I’m out and showed me the empty container. I said you could’ve said. She gave me an extra 2oz of something else and we called it a day. Sunday crew there don’t wanna be there. For 15 bucks a pint I’m gonna tell my homies to go back to Jack and Jill.

If you like good focaccia, coffee, and charcuterie, don't pass on this place. It's fantastic coffee and really, really perfect focaccia. I am still thinking about the sandwich I had hours later. Cool attention to the prosciutto sourcing process as well.I often walk past places like this curiously, and keep walking -- newer places that cater upmarket aren't always accessible to everyone. But this is truly a friendly neighborhood cafe and I like coming here to treat myself to a sandwich every couple months. (Bonus, it's right next to the pharmacy and on a good bus line). Will keep it as a ritual whenever life allows.
