Located on the banks of the Potomac River in Washington, DC, the floor-to-ceiling windows offer magnificent views of Arne Quinze’s large-scale, site-specific sculpture in the garden, the Kennedy Center, Roosevelt Bridge, Roosevelt Island, Key Bridge, and the Virginia skyline. The main dining room features Hitoshi Kuriyama’s neon and glass vacuum tube light installation. Enjoy some of the finest American cuisine in D.C. on the mezzanine, outside on the terrace, or in the private state room, as well as our collection of contemporary art on display throughout the restaurant.Cotton Candy StationMilkshake StationVanilla, Chocolate, M&Ms, Sprinkles, Oreo Cookies, Pretzels

Sequoia, it pains me to have to highlight such basic issues with your very expensive brunch offering. You have so much potential for something great. However, the food preparation is not at all up to par. I will freely provide you 3 recommendations that will instantly and measurably improve your offerings with very minimal capital outlay.#1: The Raw Bar: Oh boy...where to start...You CANNOT boil your snow crab legs. It is just as easy to steam them. When I tried cracking them, the meat was destroyed, tasteless, inedible. The legs were a good size yet the meat is waterlogged and goes to waste. The plate and my hands are dripping with water that is pouring out with each crack. It ruins the guest experience as well. It's honestly a crime. I read that they can be served warmed as opposed to chilled, by request. When I inquired with the server he mentioned "50% of the time they come out good" because they microwave them and its uneven cooking. Microwave? Seriously? And the mignonettes presentation was far more appetizing than the sad looking oysters I was so looking forward to and did not have the confidence to try. Put them aside, separately, on ice, than languishing next to a pile of crab.#2: You CANNOT put fried chicken in a closed, heated serving casserole. You are now steam/poaching "the artist formerly known as fried chicken." The chicken must be allowed to breathe. (See KFC/Popeye's warming approaches if you don't believe me.) It was inedible soggy breading.#3. The upstairs section should honestly just be closed for brunch, or reserved exclusively for large groups. The 2 minute walk through the back of house, and down and up 2 flights of stairs to fill your plate EACH time, realllyyy challenges the "upscale" experience that you guys purport to offer and your prices reflect. The service is very well intended and attentive, if a bit overbearing/intrusive. The highlights, by far, are the made-to-order crab cakes and the made-to-order tacos, for the very obvious and aforementioned reason, but its not what most folks are paying the high prices for. The lox bar and omelet station was also lovely. Desserts were fine, if a bit infantile. The restaurant itself, views, and location are AMAZING, which makes this such a larger fail. I regret having come here for a special occasion that had me treking soupy crab across half a DC block each time to eat. Sequoia, I hope you respond to this and make these easy changes, cause you could be so much better.

This was a wonderful place to celebrate my friend’s birthday. Although it is priced high for brunch ($110 after tax), it is bottomless food (buffet style) and bottomless drinks (nonalcoholic and alcoholic). The food was absolutely worth the price we paid! From the prime rib to the crab cakes, it was delicious. Also, the servers were always on it and came with great vibes. Our server never let our glasses be empty and was telling a lot of jokes. Overall, while it is not priced for an everyday brunch, it is 110% worth it for special occasions.

I took a friend here for the Easter Brunch. The food was great, then the service was great , and the dining experience was great. My only suggestion would have been to have more breakfast items and/or add lobster to the seafood tower.

Don’t go to their Sunday brunch. Even if you don’t consume alcohol other on alcoholic drinks the price is the same. The food isn’t worth $90/pp. the fact that they don’t have options to include or not include alcohol is ridiculous and just a way to scam you out of your money

While the service was a little slow where we had to ask for our cheese (focaccia) bread about 4 times, I would be remiss if I gave this restaurant anything less than 5 stars for its food! There is ample inside and outside seating with great views of the water. The ambiance is classy modern with floor to ceiling windows very bright with natural light through. Decor is understated elegance with modern ceiling light. Tables are covered in pressed table cloth, the right amount of romantic and social gathering ambiance. My friend ordered chilled lobster and shrimp salad which came with mango salsa and sauce and second sriracha vinaigrette. The New England chowder soup was divine according to my friend. I ordered the chicken chimichurri and grilled shrimp with coconut rice with black beans. Heavenly! Right amount of seasoning, perfectly grilled luscious good sized shrimps on a skewer. We would have licked the plates clean if we could. Definitely unilaterally absolute place highly recommended for everyone to enjoy.

I'm usually a fan of Sequoia's location in the Georgetown area, but my recent visit was a disaster. The drinks were atrocious - the dirty martini was undrinkable and tasted like it might have been made with expired ingredients. The tequila was also poorly made. We also ordered a fish platter, which was surprisingly tasteless. As a frequent visitor to Sequoia, I was shocked by the poor service. Our waiter seemed uninterested in addressing our concerns. When we complained about the drinks, he only offered to replace the dirty martini and then had the nerve to charge us for the replacement drink he suggested. It also took an inordinate amount of time for them to bring us forks after my friend dropped hers, and even longer to replace the second drink after we told them it was undrinkable.Unfortunately, this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth, and I'm not sure if I'll be returning to Sequoia again.

Met friends here and had an awesome dinner. When I am back in DC, I will definitely return for the ambiance, drinks, food, and service. I was having such a great time, I didn't take pictures of my food.

Our group made reservations to have lunch and came here to find out that it's all day brunch on Sundays. The information could have been easily noted on the reservation page for people to see and we would have picked a different date. We decided to forgo our reservation because several people in our group are allergic to shellfish.

We have been here numerous times but this time the service was really bad. The food quality is not the same anymore.
