With so many choices in this part of DC, I am not sure I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an unforgettable meal. The highlight was the service and staff who were kind and attentive. Ambiance was a close second. However, beyond that, both of our meals were salty, albeit with rather odd combinations of flavors. The server told us that anything the chef pickled had almost no vinegar flavor, which we found hard to believe. She also shared that the country ham served with the scallops, would be a minor sprinkling. Yet when it showed up on our plates, the vinegar flavor was overpowering and the ham was abundant. Both of our meals should have been accompanied by some type of rice or potato, or neutral element to combat the strong flavors from the rest of the food, however, it was never recommended. We were two women without enormous appetites, staying in a hotel, and had no interest in leaving with leftovers, so the idea of ordering additional sides seemed unnecessary. It never crossed our mind. Had it been recommended, we would have willingly done so. I'd go back for a salad on the covered patio, beyond that, no thank you.

Historic inn and restaurant...loved the decor and ambience. It felt like you were in your own dining room. It was very cozy. Food was comfort food, nothing fancy but excellent. Wait staff was very friendly. Definitely will go back!

So nice to have a delicious meal in a quiet spot where we could enjoy conversation the food was top notch and the service was attentive. I made a meal of two appetizers (potato leek soup and an onion goat cheese tart). Both were excellent. My husband enjoyed the chicken fricasee. For dessert we shared the chocolate cremeaux which was very rich so good to split.

We sat outside on the patio for a date night. I'd been for brunch before but this was my first time for dinner and it was awesome! We got the onion tart, scallops, new chicken dish and the honey cake. The scallops were my fav, but my husband said the oysters were the best he's ever had! The chef even came out to say hi. Thank you for such an amazing time!

It was super expensive for the quality of the food. The patio was not very confortable. The Caesar salad misses sauce just not taste. The oysters had not lemon no spoon. The meat was ok but the sauce not great and potatoes not fully cooked. For $240 we were very surprised!

My wife and I each ordered the leek soup, which was excellent. She ordered grilled scallops, which were also excellent. I ordered trout, which I did not care for. It was overly salty, vinegary, and overcooked to the point of being rubbery. The chef came out and explained that that was the way they prepare it for this dish--cured in salt. He did not seem to think there was anything wrong with it being rubbery but when I have cooked trout at home I have always treated it as the mild white fish it is. This chef simply differed. As a compensation, I was given a delicious panna cotta desert. The $83 bottle of wine was good, but of course overpriced. Overall, the meal did not seem quite worth the $200 we paid.

Even though considered 'vintage', I'd rather call it 'a bit worn out'. Nice atmosphere, but a lot of things in the rooms need replacement or restoration. Windows need cleaning. And prices are not in correspondence with received quality (hotel and restaurant). Though the restaurant was definitely okay. And something they cannot do a lot about: very noisy nightly neighborhood

I first dined here in the early 1980's, when I stayed at the Inn during several work trips. I'm happy to say that the food is quite good and the setting just as warm and lovely as I remembered.

This was a wonderful hotel with lots of character.Rooms: Lovely decor, spacious bathroom. The mattress was about as soft as a plank of wood.Nearby activities: Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and close enough to the metro to make exploring the city very convenient.Walkability: Close to Dupont Circle and the metro.

Menu totally different than anything on line. Service was friendly, ambiance , amazing. I finally ordered a burger which was great but was hungry for that ribeye steak or the veal chop , that was listed on every site.

Never fun leaving a restaurant sick and hungry. Saw about this place on Instagram and made a reservation for my friend and I. We both ordered the chicken and a couple of bites in, she discovered that hers was raw. She nor I had an appetite after that and she began to feel sick, so I quickly gave the waitress my card for us to pay and leave. I asked the waitress if she had comped the raw chicken entree, and she said they had--but looked at the bill and they had not. Fun ambience, so hate that we had this experience because I doubt I'll be able to bring myself back after the situation/how it was handled.

Let me clarify that this dinner experience was an affair my entire family enjoyed emsensly and will never forget. All employees join in service to all who walk through their doors. They look to please, with style, offer new and exciting to your taste buds flavors like never before. A champagne blush Pinot noir, to die for, dessert squares grape & Carmel. It was just over the top. Do Not miss this place for a meal when you visit DC.Our next visit, we will be lodging here. Many thanks to the entire staff. You all have a gem here. Keep up the hard work!

Very old school restaurant, quiet and classical vibe, simple and easy menu with great food and professional service. Had a very good experience with friends there.
