The Salt Line Oyster & Ale is a nice upscale restaurant on the wharf district. They have ample happy hours from 4-6 on Monday through Thursday with Friday’s happy hour from noon to 6 pm. The oysters were local and delicious. Fish sandwich was sloppy but good flavor. The clam chowder is an explosion of flavors, the only thing I didn’t prefer, the soup was too thin, my preference is a thicker base. If you like sea food and are in the DC area, I’d recommend the Salt Line.

Super dinner experience! Our waiter, G, was fantastic. Excellent wine suggestions including providing a couple of samples so we could decide. The food was exceptional - clam and shrimp bucatini, crab roll and rockfish.

I was super excited as this restaurant had great reviews. What they failed to mention was the entrees are not your traditional ones. The portion size is, I would say, that of a 3 course type of restaurant. They are pretty small. I had the rockfish. Now the rockfish was about 3-4 oz fish and had some potatoes and veggies underneath it. Now, that was about a cup of minced veggies and a few cut tiny potatoes. A cup exactly. So I would say the whole meal was about 8oz total. Picture the size of your hand. So it wasn’t very filling even with the crab dip app we got. We wound up going next door and grabbing pizza. The food was very tasty and flavorful but if you have been starving yourself all day and just super hungry, I would not recommend this place. I did see a huge platter one serving of fish and chips. That may be your best but but the over priced fish entrees just isn’t worth it. They also charged us 20% gratuity for large part of 6. It was my husband and 3 kids. 5 and under. Please explain to me how 5 people, 2 adults and 3 babies is considered a large party of 6. So that was 25$ in tip. We typically tip 20$ for over a 100$ bill. Our bill total was 170$ including the tip. Just an idea. We grabbed two drink, and a club soda. Plus two kids meals of pasta and a few apple slices. I’m assuming they are popular for their oysters and not their entrees. The staff were great and very attentive. Give it a try and see what you think.

First lovely day in a while, got to sit out on the patio and enjoy a few drinks and some oysters! Service was pretty slow but since we weren't in a rush it didn't seem so bad. Fries were crispy and the oysters were fresh as always.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Salt Line. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was delicious. It was nice of them to celebrate my birthday with ibe cream.

Been to Salt Line many times and have had consistently good experiences. Until my birthday dinner last week. Service and staff were not the issue. It was the food. Dishes, such as the pimento crab dip and lobster roll, which I have indulged on many times previously, were subpar and debatably inedible. I didn't finish either plate. Even the mixed greens (side to the roll) were soggy - how do you f' up salad? The key lime pie came out hot, never had a hot key lime pie, i think that this was possibly due to the creme brulee-esque torching on the top, not a bad idea but poor execution. I will shoutout the oysters which were great! Hope they figure things out soon before the Nats szn kicks off!

My wife and I had a wonderful evening. Everything we tasted was amazing - oysters, tuna tartar, Parker house rolls, short rib, sword fish and a banana split for dessert. Our waitress Lucy was amazing and the other staff members were so quick and courteous to help her. We look forward to coming back!

Enjoyed good seafood. Nice selection of oysters. Most impressively was the service. We had a large group with separate checks, and our service was spectacular. She was on point.

This was a valentines dinner so we could only order off of the valentine menu. At least 4 items on the menu were sold out so we had to either substitute or settle for something we didn't want. Then the food was only ok. The steak was extremely chewy. Of which we both had. She wanted the braised rib and because they had none, she had to upgrade to the steak which was an upcharge.....even the cake which was a substitute, was dense, taste like it came out of the fridge and was tasteless. After spending over 300. On what was supposed to be a great dinner, we went to mcdonalds.

Very limited menu most of which is either “fried” or “crispy”. Also, there was a flowery note at the bottom of the menu about the need for a 4% surcharge; raise the prices, re-print the menus and move on. I bought gas on the way to Salt Line and there was no “surcharge” and whiney note explaining why regular unleaded is $0.20 more than last week.
