We decided to try out a restaurant that our buddies had recommended, but unfortunately, we found the food to be just okay. The flavors were a tad bit stronger than we had anticipated, but it was still pretty decent. In an attempt to explore new foods, we ordered the Hu Muu Todd (Fried Pig's Ears), but it was a bit tough to chew on. Nonetheless, we still had a great time together!

Try food near THAI AT SILVER SPRING for some good thai food at reasonable price. That too if you are a vegetarian. The rice noodles were cooked like a sludge and it costs $28. Over rated and overpriced place. Never going here again. Neem Khao is OK.

I had been looking forward to eating here for a while. Finally tried it, and the food was reminiscent of greasy mid-level Thai food. I have had Laotian before and didn’t get the sour fermented notes or any real flavors. All I tasted was grease. Maybe it was the food I ordered. Service was fine and atmosphere was good. 1 appetizer , 2 entrees and 2 drinks for $120

It’s our third night in DC and we picked another restaurant featured in the DC episode of Somebody Feed Phil for dinner this evening. It took us just 20 minutes to get there fromthe Smithsonian American Art Museum & National Portrait Gallery where we had spent the entire afternoon, involving only 1 line of Metro Rail ride. The restaurant is only 4 blocks north of the Columbia Heights station. We ordered:1. Chuenh Peek Gai (crispy chicken wings)2. Piing with pork shoulder3. Gaeng Phet (noodle in red curry sauce) with fried tofu which same with a side of rice.My husband is very sentine to fish sauce and we don’t like the flavour nor the aroma of it. He said he could taste fish sauce in the marinade for the chicken wings. However, it must have been really mild as I didn’t notice it until he mentioned it and I rather quite enjoyed every bite of it.The star tonight for me would be the red curry dish with fried tofu and rice noodle. The side salad with green onion gave an added aromatic punch to the richness of the creamy curry. My husband’s favourite was the grilled pork shoulder. The flavours were rich and bold and balanced perfectly with steamed sticky rice.We have to thank Phil Rosenthal for introducing us to Laotian food.

Make the reservation and get over here! The staff are some of the nicest people and the food will never disappoint. This is “the” place I take family and friends when they come to visit. Columbia Heights is so lucky to have this delicious spot in our backyard!

Wonderful food and service! Our party of 4 each ordered something different and we loved and devoured each dish; I don’t think you can go wrong here!

Very great experience! The food was amazing and service was super speedy. I went on a relatively busy Wednesday night with a few friends and we ordered the Chuenh Taohu (tofu app) Chicken Laab, Kua Mee Viengchanh (fried noodles) and Kua Khao Jaew Bong (fried rice) all to share. They were all hits! All the dishes were super flavorful and packed a punch. The tofu was sweet and crispy and the pickled cucumbers in the fried rice really brightened up the dish. My only complaint is that the fried rice was on the salty side. Besides that, everything was fantastic! 10/10 will be going back!Dietary restrictions: They just asked about dietary restrictions

Fantastic interesting powerful flavors, excellent service, cool place. My only wish is less salt in some dishes. I will try to ask next time if that can be accommodated.

Thip Khao was a small inconspicuous place from the outside but upon entering it was packed and full of life. Parking was a bit difficult and ended up parking a few blocks away after some circling. There were lots of vegetarian options. I got the Khao Poon and it was so flavorful and the tofu was a nice added crispiness to the otherwise soupy dish! The service was quick and efficient. I would definitely go back to try some more items on the menu!

Absolutely loved my experience here. Food, service, and ambiance were all 5/5. I got the catfish moak and the green curry sauce on it was heavenly, so flavorful and delicious with the sticky rice. I can't wait to go back and try more menu items!

This is my new favourite place. Amazing dessert just the right portion. Finger licking food and great atmosphere. We went without reservations but got the seat. The service was very quick. We went on Friday so the place had a good happy vibe.

Absolutely love Thip Khao! The food, service, ambiance is all spot on. So many of the dishes hit the perfect balance of sweet/savory and sour. Recommend the ping, lettuce wraps with toasted rice and whatever meat you prefer, and the fried rice. The noodles are good but I wouldn't say they are worth as much attention as the more unique dishes. A neighborhood staple that is always packed for good reason!
