I visited Jessop's on a recommendation from another beer connoisseur and was not disappointed. The draft beer list was excellent, mostly Belgian beers with a few UK, German, and American crafts thrown in. They have a full bar, and plenty of cider and wine offerings for anyone who may not like beer. My wife liked the bloody mary, which was nice and spicy. The bar is not that large, so try to time your visit or get a reservation for a dining table. New Castle has very few restaurants, so it can get busy, especially on a nice weekend. We did not eat here, so this review is strictly based on the beer selection and bar service- both of which were excellent. The ambiance is great, feels like stepping back in time. The bar is very social and the bartender Jess was very welcoming and friendly. If you like beer, make sure Jessup's Tavern is on your list to visit!

The food was very good. My wife got the swedish meat loaf and it was fantastic. The salmon was also good. Our server was friendly and very attentive. I really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant but we noticed that the wait staff no longer dresses in period clothing. Also the Google description says they have a fireplace, but it doesn't operate.

I ordered the acclaimed shepherds pie, what a mistake. No lie, they brought out this gelatinous beef brick shaped like a Tupperware container. It tasted & honestly smelled like gravy train dog food. Never again.

Fantastic place! This is a must stop on everyone’s list. The food is full of flavor and a great value! I would recommend making reservations though, you might not be able to just walk in and get a seat.

We had a wonderful couples night out. Our waitress, was phenomenal and gave great advice on drinks and eats. You can tell she was trained well and knew the menu. Food is old American but very tasty and good portions. The bread pudding was unforgettable and can easily serve 4 or get 1 and you will have plenty of leftovers. My only regret was not ordering a scoop of vanilla ice cream to go with it!Vegetarian options: One main dish was vegetarian., a veggie sandwich which was great! The rest were not. Of course there were some salad options

Jessop's Tavern has been on my list of places to try. I wish I would have visited sooner because this place is not only cool, but the beer selection is top notch and the food was great too. Having been to several pubs overseas, I was very pleased that the tavern replicated the old world experience from the decor to the metal plates to ye olde music playing in the background. The beer menu is crafted to impress and I was very pleased with the drinks. The fish and chips, voted best in a Delaware multiple times, was delicious. I finished off with the bread pudding since the menu said it was the reason to visit Jessop's. I found it too be a little dry. I loved the old world charm and comfort food and would love to come back again.

Shawna was our server. She was so pleasant and friendly. The Sheppard pie was excellent. The mussels had too many herbs that made it taste a bit bitter.
