We have been in contact with Rick Harra several times over the last few years all for difficult circumstances. Each time Rick was right there, very professional, caring, and empathetic. He has a way about him that just makes you feel comfortable . It's like you're talking to an old friend who understands your situation. We are extremely grateful and appreciate all he has done for our family. I would highly recommend the McCrery & Harra funeral homes and especially Rick. He is just a super guy who knows what to do how to handle things tastefully. Regards, Brian C. and Cheryl Martinenza

How is it possible that in 47 years, I had never been to McCrery and Harra on Kirkwood Hywy?? My sister had heard good things but considering I had never ever been there, I made a second appointment at another funeral home to make my mother's pre-paid funeral plans a few months back. Within the first 15 minutes of meeting Anne Rowan, I cancelled my other appointment. She was patient, comforting, she explained everything in as much detail as we needed and she also waded through some tough family debates my family had in her presence. And she did it all with grace and style and compassion. When we were leaving, I was waiting for an Uber to pick me up and she ever offered me a ride back to where I was staying. Amazing. That's the kind of people McCrery and Harry have on their team. And then my mother passed away. An hour later, I was still reeling from the news from the West Coast, and McCrery and Harra were already there on the east coast at my mother's home picking her up to handle everything. Nick Paulson was amazing. He was communicative, thorough, compassionate, quick to respond, available at just about any time for any question or concern. He had to coordinate a viewing and service in Wilmington and an additional viewing and service (and the burial) 2 hours south in Seaford. Everything went off without one hitch. I was flawless. For one of the most emotional and toughest days in our lives, it was also the most beautiful and seamless of days. The whole team there was great. We didn't have to worry about a thing. The video they made from the pictures we sent them was so special. I can tell they took time with it but also didn't make it overly sentimental. It was just right. And Nick even recommended and called a wonderful Episcopalian priest, Sarah Neilson, who could not have made the process and the service more personal and comforting. It's weird to recommend a funeral home on line. Believe me its even weirder writing a review of one only a week after my mothers passing. But I have to give credit where credit is due. If I ever have to do it again, I would choose Nick Paulson and McCrery and Harra's every time.

Love these folks! Good people who are each called to do this work. As a pastor, I love working with them. They truly care about families and go above and beyond. The funeral I just did was in celebration of a woman who thought men should be clean shaven--Michael, the funeral director, shaved his beard in her honor. This type of gesture happens a lot here. They really become a part of people's stories and lives. That's what happens when you've got a family owned business. If you need a good place to help you said goodbye to a loved one, consider putting your trust in McCrery & Harra.
