The food is good and reasonable for their prices but I feel that they are going too far with this self-service, you almost have to go to the grill to grab your food when it is ready because the cooks are not even able to prepare the food to take away, so They don't even give you a bag or a tray to carry your products, the service is not very good, for that reason alone I would not return.
The sushi ingredients looked super fresh and the sushi is hand rolled on the spot. If you like maki style sushi rolls, you may want to get sushi from here. I also recommend anything from the Side Orders section of the menu; the chicken eggroll was crisp and the filling melted in my mouth. I know their teriyaki items are their bestsellers, although tbh I actually don't think they're the best things you can get here. If you do get it though, be sure to ask for extra sauce!

I have eaten at this spot a lot of times over the last 4 years, since relocating to Florida. I have been a Sarku customer for about 12 years now, mostly in Raleigh NC. I truly have to say that my experience here on October 30, 2023, was the worst I have ever had.I was one of 4 people waiting, and waiting, and waiting for our food. In past experience I do not think it has every taken more than 5 - 7 minutes for a batch of chicken to cook on the grill, but these guys took FOREVER. The 3 dudes behind the grill, as well as the 2 females, stood around and talked, and talked and then talked some more. To be fair, at least the "cook" was shifting the meat around and flipping it over time and again, but it was just getting more done as he did it.I complained vocally that it was taking much too long to get this done. We waited almost 20 minutes for a job that should have taken no more than 7 or 8 at the most. 1 lady even told them that they were cooking her food to well done, and they just ignored us.Suffice it to say, I do not know if I will ever return to this location, and if I do, it might be a cold day in he** when that happens. I will go out of my way to go to the location at Citrus Park as opposed to Brandon. Better yet, I will not go there at all.I will stick to driving back to Lakeland and eat at Teppan Express at the Lakeland Mall. At least they give you your yumyum sauce for FREE!

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 09/06/2023 APPROX: 10:30/40 AM.DOOOOOO NOT EAT THERE!!!! I REPEAT....DO NOT EAT HERE. WHAT I OBSERVED AROUND 10:30/40 AM AS FOLLOWS: THERE WAS ALREADY A MALE AND FEMALE THERE WORKING. ANOTHER MALE JUMPED TO THE OTHER SIDE TO START WORK AND HE JUMPED ON THE COOKING GRILL WITH HIS SHOES ON, WENT TO GET FOOD TO START COOKING, AND THEN COMMENCED TO COOKING ON THE GRILL THAT HE JUMPED ON WITHOUT CLEANING IT....DO NOT EAT HERE. IT HAPPENED SO FAST THAT I COULD NOT GET A PICTURE...I IMEDIATELY CHOSE A DIFFERENT PLACE TO EAT. I ATE HERE ALL THE TIME UNTIL THIS MORNING.....HOPEFULLY THEY HAVE CAMERAS AND CAN PULL THE VIDEO.

There's not much bad you can say about Sarku Japan. It seems to be a staple of the mall food court... I've had pretty consistent results at every one of these restaurants. I found myself in Brandon over the weekend and gave the Brandon store a shot. Good food. Fast, nice service. An added bonus, this restaurant takes good care of itself -- everything looks clean and fresh. You can't say that about every food court restaurant. I got the stirfry chicken with noodles. No Michelin Stars at this restaurant... But, it was good. Hot and fresh. You can't ask for much more for about 10 bucks.

The food was decent, but the staff made a mess of our plate and refused to fix anything. They use Yum Yum sauce as salad dressing. We tried to explain that we don't eat Yum Yum sauce, so they tossed the salad and put vegetables into the Yum Yum sauce. We ate what we could, but the menu is deceptive. Staff is somewhat rude.
