We “took out” last night - Friday 2/10/23. First time here and definitely will not be the last. I have been all over Latin America … the food at Lechonera El Barrio was not only great but enough for another meal today.

What a great find! First time here, but it won't be the last time. Warm, friendly greeting and we were served by the owner Enrique.Food was delicious, fresh and flavorful. I eat yuca a lot. This was by far the best I've had. Seasoned perfectly. Will be coming back for the yuca frita! ?Portions were great, senior discount was nice too! ❤️Thank you for a great meal!

The food is amazing! The alcapurria was delicious, and the beef empanada is the best I have had in a long while! Both fried to order and tasted so fresh. My husband had the rice with gandules, pernil, yuca and maduros. They offered cuerito, which was crunchy to perfection! Of course I had to taste it all. The owners are also super nice. Many other choices in the menu we could not eat this time so we'll be back soon.

I come here very often however today my portion was much smaller than usual. I’d say about half. Prices have gone up which is understandable but the portions have gone smaller for sure. Not enough food for the 10.99 they charge. Sad to see this place go downhill

I had come here a few months ago and fell in love with their empanadas and green sauce. I was trying to catch them again while here for thanksgiving and they were closed. Monday before I left back to NC they were still not open but the lady happened to be outside asked her and she was so kind and got me some empanadas to go. Really went out of her way for me to get some ready for me take some with me on my drive.

Prices are to high for the portion size. They are very cheap with the amount of meat and rice. They do not sell sides of meat unless you buy something else. Good food but not for the price.

Food is 10 out of 10, absolutely delicious.Employees are pleasent and patient.Only thing I would change is to put some labels on the windows so as a first timer there I didn't have to keep asking the poor employee to repeat themselves because of my hearing issues.

Great food. Good people. First time I ate there, I followed it up with 5 more consecutive visits. Legit latino food!!

I have wanted to stop in here, to try the food, when I git the chance! I finally got the chance, on a Thursday, about 4:30 pm, and I walked in, one older lady said hello and welcome, but the other staff looked at me, like I was coming in when they were closing! I looked at the hot food, there was nothing left really, there was a small amount of yellow rice, meat, and there were no extras there, that side, was completely empty, so I am guessing that is where they were kept! They call the store, La Lechonera, which is sort of Porky’s…it’s a great name, I had the food in Orlando’s spot, and it was delicioso!!! But, when I saw all the empty trays and the food that was left and dried out, and it looked like it was there since the morning! I am definitely going to give them another try…because I know how good it can be! I used to have my own Deli-Cafe, so I know that it is very difficult very now…post-COVID, and we don’t want to waste any food, but if you want people to buy it, they first have to buy it with their eyes, then with money! I would love some sampling, like other reviewers have had, so maybe I would try different items too! I also see pictures of Tamales on the menu, do you hopefully seek Tamales, and what kind please??? I am American, but was raised Spanish, my whole life, so I know how to make Pernil, Carne Asada, Arroz con Gandules, Habichuelas Rojas y Negras, Bola de Papa, Alcapurrias, Empanadas de Queso y de todos clases de Carne, Lasagna; con Carnes o Vegetales, Paella de Carnes o Pescados, Seviche de Camarones y Pescado, y mucho más! I am sure that the food is good, there just need to be more of it to see and then enjoy! I give a neutral vote, and I will change it once I have tasted it!!! And the staff needs to be more friendly! Thanks so much for listening to me, and have a Blessed Day!!! Muchas Gracias para escuchandome y pasa una día bendiciada!!!

Awesome Latin home cooked food! So many choices and you can try everything before you order. You will not be disappointed and you will never eat at chipotle again. Support your locally owned businesses ??

The lady was very friendly and attentive. The establishment looked clean. The food was overall salty. Tone it down on the salt. Just a humble suggestion.

I saw this place when I went to the UPS store next door. There is no indication as to the type of cuisine they serve, so I Googled it. Went in a few days later, and kinda stood there. No one said hello or explained anything to me, so I walked over and a guy grabbed a container and looked at me expectantly. I followed the lead of a woman ahead of me and just started telling him to put this or that in the container. Nothing was labeled so I wasn't sure what I was even getting. I didn't know that I was to select a meat and 4 sides. Got through that, paid the bill (it was about $12), took the food home and it was excellent. I will definitely go again! They really need better signage, and some direction for new customers walking in the door.
