What a pleasant surprise to find this delightful Portuguese/ Greek cafe in Dunnellon, Fl. We ordered one order of their signature grilled half chicken, and one order of Arroz de Marisco which is a grilled medley of seafood over rice. Both were phenomenal! Unbelievable that such great food could be found in such a small and casual cafe. Definitely will recommend this place to family and friends.

I had the grilled fish sandwich. They need to clean their grill better than they do. Do you know the flavor you get when you forget to wire brush your at home outdoor grill from the last cookout? I didn't like it because it tasted greasy and smelled like burgers were cooked right beside my fish.With that being said, my partner's soup was some of the best she has ever had.My advice is, if you can smell a restaurants grill from outside......stick with a steak or a burger and don't get the fish.

I don’t understand the high ratings. The food was not authentic by any means. The chicken lacked true flavor!! It was bland! piri piri chicken has a deep rich spice to it. It has a red deep coloring !!! I’m not even going to go into the fries that were obviously frozen and overly greasy. Either there is not a Portuguese chef or they cheating the public of a TRUE experience of what piri piri chicken should taste like. It’s rich spicy and full of flavor. I felt like walking into that kitchen and teaching them. Very disappointed . It has promise once they clean up their act and starting cooking from the heart !

I cannot get enough of this place! I am working my way through the menu. So far absolutely blown away by the mussels - best I’ve had ever - the soups, the clams, corn on the cob, the corn nuggets…that’s all I’ve had time to try so far but loved all of them. I also love the traditional Portuguese pastry, took those cold to go and had them for breakfast the next day. Chocolate mousse pie is a die and go to Heaven situation! Love love love this place!!!

We ordered dinner for three to be delivered. The food arrived on time, hot and fresh. It was all absolutely superb! We had lamb chops, cod, brussel sprouts, roasted cauliflower, homemade mac and cheese, string potato fries, and the Portuguese rice. The rolls were great, as were the desserts! I think we have found our new spot!

I rated lower for service because when I visited yesterday, the poor server had a 12 top that he was tending to so the service was slower than normal, I'm sure. Atmosphere was okay (it's in a nondescript building) but frankly I was there for the FOOD. I am a Foodie, after all. And THAT was stellar. Besides chicken, Piri Piri has a selection of steaks (Delmonico, Top Round and NY Strip), pork and even Icelandic Snow Crab. Since I was "new" to this restaurant, I was cautious. I first ordered an appetizer, Honey Garlic chicken wings which were an absolute delight: drizzled with a light coating of honey and surrounded with roasted whole garlic cloves. Absolutely delicious! I also ordered the Quarter Chicken combo which was also priced low. My chicken was so well seasoned that it did not need the Piri Piri sauce it came with: flavorful, grilled and popping with flavor. I did try the Piri Piri sauce and found it quite tasty also. The side I chose was roasted cauliflower which had a slightly citric taste which was pleasant and enlivened the naturally bland flavor of cauliflower.Some sides are also grilled with additional choices brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes and more. All meals are served with a HUGE dinner role (Portuguese Papo Secos) which can easily be split in two: hot, fresh and delicious. The dessert offerings include: homemade in-house flan (mild flavor but delicious with a portion large enough for 3 to share comfortably), egg custard (which had a marked cinnamon flavor) and Eclairs. The homemade in-house Portuguese Napoleon will be my next choice to try when I return soon. Not made in-house but I noticed others ordering was the coconut cake. This place was perfect for me for an after church lunch and I found the chicken tastier than my Orlando go-to of Pollo Tropical. The food is cooked here with love...much flavor. I live in Crystal River but it's worth the drive for me. A MUST try for all Dunnellon and surrounding area denizens. So Piri Piri gets an A+ from me. I'll be back soon!
