It's been decades since I've done a float trip, so when a friend invited me to kayak the Lower Santa Fe River I wasn't sure what to expect. When I found out the place providing the kayaks and transportation was Rum 138, I recognized it as I attended a music festival there a few years back. So, first, the music events: They're a fun time, well-operated, and if they are multi-day the venue gets permits to allow attendees to camp on-site. Highly recommended, assuming you like the bands involved (the event I attended was an assortment roots/Americana, rock, and Grateful Dead style fare, right up my alley). As for the kayaking: FANTASTIC. The price is right, about $50 for drop-off, pick-up, boat, paddle, and life jacket for a full day on the river. You get a very detailed briefing on what to expect and what high points to look for (there are various springs, etc. off the main riverbed that you can visit). Our briefer was -- my spelling, which could be wrong -- Marihelen, and she was a font of great information. The guy who helped us select our boats, drove us down to the river, put us in, and picked us up several miles downstream, was also very friendly, helpful, and informative. Sorry, I can't remember his name. It was just an insanely great time. Of course, Rum 138 didn't invent the river, but they make the experience of floating it fun, easy, smooth, and not too hard on the wallet.

An incredible place with super knowledgeable staff and very eco-conscious business. They rent canoes and kayaks and paddleboard‘s and sell them also and they also run a shuttle service on the nearby river. During the winter they have amazing music on their outside stage and really really good food. Please check this place out if you can it’s amazing!

We have used Rum 138, several times for our company outings. The service is outstanding, served with a smile and a sense of humor. And they supply you with all the info you need to have a great day on the river. They also sell art, kayaks, sups, and little things you might need on the river. Plus they occasionally have live music. Great place, great staff!

Fabulous experience from start to finish! We chose the longer trip of the 2 options. So glad we did! Surrounded by beauty for hours ! Except for some wilding out around Ginnie Springs hahaha.. but otherwise stunning scenery and excellent service!

We had a church youth group of about 20 kayakers take a tour down the Santa Fe river. Rum 138 was absolutely amazing! They helped us to know where to go, the places to stop, and they were so kind and generous at both drop off and pick up. This is your one stop shop for a great time on the river! Well done Rum 138.

We came down from Jax and did two kayaks for half a day. The staff was so kind, helpful and friendly! The place is easy to find and the shuttle service ROCKS!! (Bring cash to tip the drivers!) Affordable and the website was easy to navigate

Exceptional in every regard! Friendly, knowledgable owners, top notch customer service, north central Floridas best.

I grateful they could accommodate us as we walked in without a reservation but the customer service seemed to end once they had our money. The lady at the front desk nickled and dimed us. And I didn't notice the Yelp check in discount until afterwards- that price was much more reasonable than what I paid. Additionally once we returned, we called them immediately for pickup and we waited in a park (with no restrooms) for 45 mins for them to finally come get us. The equipment was in good condition. The river was beautiful though. I highly recommended the trip.

Great service and advise, friendly and professional. Good location and easy to find. The Santa Fe River is a must kayak in Florida.

A friend and I had Rum 138 provide shuttle service for us and our kayaks. It is the most friendly kayaking outfitters I have worked with. They provide total flexibility for when and where you put in and take out for the three points they service on the Santa Fe River. Just call when you are ready to be picked up and they are there in a few minutes. I recommend other outfitters go use Rum 138 to learn how they should be operating. (And, BTW, the river is absolutely beautiful.)

Had a great day canoeing the Santa Fe River. Weather was beautiful and it was a very peaceful ride. We enjoyed exploring the various springs enroute. Dealing with Rum 138 was a pleasure. They are very friendly and helpful, and were even waiting for us at the dock at the endo of the ride.

If I could rate them higher than 5 stars-Excellent, I would. Doug, his wife, and his employees treat you as a friend, not just a customer. We were fortunate enough to find them when we decided to purchase a Vibe kayak and the whole experience was so great that we automatically decided to go back there to purchase our second Vibe. I also have a personal experience to share to show why they deserve the highest rating. Recently they shuttled our Vibes to the Santa Fe River and during the trip, my husband injured his shoulder. He was unable to continue paddling and when we called Rum 138 for help, they came and picked us up within an hour. I don't know what we would have done without their help. They are an excellent example of how businesses should treat their customers. Everyone there is so friendly, kind and accommodating that it's a great pleasure doing business with them.
