My favorite restaurant to go to in Gainesville FL. The food is Amazing. Best Jamaican food. I love their oxtail, with cabbage, beans and rice, and plantains. When I want to treat myself or take someone to dinner this is where I go. The dining experience is open, you can sit down and they will bring your food and drinks. Pay upfront and you can throw away your tray when your ready to leave. A lot of cool Jamacain heritage decorations that are pretty cool to look at. Very nice, delicious food. 5 stars!Vegetarian options: You can order the plates without meat.Parking: It is a long university avenue and I have to parallel park to get to the front but Most people don't know that there's a spacious parking lot in the back of the restaurant and u can just walk in through the back to get to the front without having to park on the main street. This parking area has a reggae shack logo.Kid-friendliness: There are plenty of different tables and chairs for any size family.

Heading home from our vacation. Thought we would make a quick stop looking for home cooking, not fast food. Wow, did we hit! Odette is incredible, it was one of the best home cooked meals we have ever had! No exaggeration. Avi very kind and made us feel welcome. Had the j*** chicken and j*** pork dinners. Plantain out of this world along with the j*** spice grilled meats, cabbage and rice with peas. Also refreshing smoothie. Mango/coconut. Don't miss this place! Odette you are a master in the kitchen. I’m a 74 yr old & have always enjoyed this establishment. On this Friday the 19,2023 I ordered my usual Curry chicken dinner. Had my Grandson pick it up. As I began to eat, I seen a long black strand of HAIR OH MY LORD. I gagged and threw the container in the Trash.I CALLED & Reported this & was told to bring it back NO replates or refund without it. I stated I threw it away & wasn’t going to dig it out of the trash.I gave them my Phone number & let them know I would be in today the 19th to speak to the Owner. I went to the establishment & was told he wasn’t in. I told the young man working what happened and he said they had my name and number. The Owner was suppose to call me he stated BUT he NEVER DID. The man then called the owner explaining I was there without the food so he told me No Refund or Replate without it.I was very upset & asked WHY the Cook had NO HAIR NET ON WITH DREADS HANGING EVERYWHERE. The man said (I quote) I have asked the same question to the Owner but he hasn’t listened. And does what he wants to do. I was outraged knowing that. So I left & took it to GOD in prayer. Monday morning I will be calling the Health Department with my complaint. This is unacceptable & We the ppl must come together and get this problem solved immediately or Close it down until some sort of investigation is completed concerning the safety practices of All ppl handling food. Our Health is at stake……HELP cause they have LOST ME AS A FAITHFUL CUSTOMER smhGET HAIR NETS OR HAIR COVERINGS ASAP

I ordered a huge catering order and I was truly blown away by the food and service! Omar hooked me up with generous portions. It was incredible value for all the food I got. My 12 guests and I enjoyed ridiculously amazing curry chicken, j*** chicken and boss j*** pork!!! Honestly we overate because it was so good! Would do it again. Thank you Reggae Shack! The food is mostly on point. I wish they would make more fresh patties and not sell them for ridiculous prices. I bought two meals and it has to serve 4 people. The total is $40. It did include brown stew fish but sheeshh...I really think there needs to be stop-a-gap lunch specials and more breakfast options. Callaloo, yam, boiled banana etc. The ackee is good but expensive. I make decent money but would only eat here once a month or every few. This is a college town. Run specials and lower prices and your customers will remain loyal! Have some fountain drinks in cups like Ting, jamaican fruit punch and fresh juices WITHOUT all of the added sugar. I miss going more often but the prices are off the chart. I go to Orlando or Ft.Lauderdale and can get twice the food amount for that price. Add red pea soup and different soups too, please.
