Lower your expectations. If we came for a casual sandwich and beer we probably would have been happy. Someone spent a lot of money renovating this space into something that looks like a fine dining establishment but the service, food presentation screams casual restaurant. From the forgotten food orders, undercooked steak and the server who had no idea how to open a wine bottle management needs to reevaluate their training techniques.

Sunday afternoons there is live music on the patio overlooking the beach, which is a really nice adult atmosphere.

The front of the house is great, the bartenders really care (love Joe) but the kitchen is so inconsistent you can't order the same thing twice and get it. The many times we have eaten there the kitchen has messed up our orders or the food was cold. The upstairs is beautiful but the cooks really need to work on the food. People don't mind paying for a great meal, but won't return if its crappy. You need more easy meals like mahi Caesar salad or turkey club sandwiches.

Food is usually good but service here, like everywhere, flat out sucks lately. Pay 25% more for no particular improvement in service. Maybe not all restaurants have a right to exist if they can't make the numbers work to hire enough staff.

A beachside restaurant with plenty of outdoor seating and friendly service. Their blackened catch-of-the-day was very tender, flavorful, flaky mahi mah served with red beans & rice. I would get it again! However they served our burger as rare when we had asked for medium to medium-well.

I went there to celebrate my sister's birthday. Service was slow and glasses are not wipe/ clean. Server was not very attentive and checked our table. Food was not the best too. Not see anything good for $$ restaurant. I will not come back :(.

Mussels ok. Sandwiches Mahi mahi average. Veggie burger was a Beyond burger and had 1 t of lettuce and 1 thin slice of 2” diameter underripe tomato with 1/2 t aioli. Yes, seafood is recommended in FL, but sometimes you want something different. The waitress tried to be pleasant, but needed at least 1-2 more serving staff to help her. Save your money and find a different place.

Great food and hospitality a true southern vibe! We got the oysters, the steak and shrimps and an escargot pasta from the specials. Wine list it also has a good and diverse selection at a reasonable price point.

I will have a hard time finding the poper words to give tribute to how incredible of a meal this was...you will just have to experience it for YOURSELF!!

The Shrimp & Grits that the friendly and informative bartender suggested was out of this world. I was only in Jacksonville Beach part of the day between flights, but they were so hospitable here and talked to me about the area that I will now be coming back here for vacation soon and I will 100% be having this dish as my first stop!

We snagged lunch at Southern Kitchen an opted for some appetizers. The weather was beautiful so we didn't mind sitting outside, but after I showed her upstairs we were kind of bummed that it wasn't opened - it is gorgeous. I had previously had brunch here and it was AMAZING! For lunch, we chose oysters, charcuterie board, and fried gator tails- all were great options, I would order again and next time try out a mixed drink- unfortunately I wasn't drinking due to running the gate river run the following day.

Disappointed Arrived and was ask if we had a reservation. We did not. We were sent upstairs and seated. I noticed a table beside our table that still had not been cleaned up. We were sat and a few minutes a server arrived. We asked for water and a glass of wine. A few minutes later another server asked for are order. We started with the PIE mussels. They arrived with a side bowl but we did not get any side plates. The mussels were good but, the smallest I have ever seen. The bread with it and the broth were great. I ordered a small Caesar salad that never came. We did order for the main meal a grouper sandwich and the Shrimp and Scallop key west pasta. The sandwich was very small but fresh and good. The pasta was dry and the sauce was like glue. The seafood in the dish was extremely had small shrimp and small bay scallops. One would think in Jacksonville a real restaurant would use real mayport shrimp. Service was very slow to almost absent. As we were leaving I noticed that the table beside us had still not been cleaned up. Probably will never return

My colleagues and I heard about Southern Kitchen and went for dinner. The service and food were AMAZING!Claire was a very attentive server. She was helpful with meal recommendations and providing kind service. Will was an awesome manager! He stopped by our table and gave suggestions on things to do in Jacksonville Beach and was very personable. For dinner, I ordered the sirloin steak and shrimp. It was served with fingerling potatoes and seasonal veggies (rainbow cauliflower). It was fresh, a decent portion size (not too much or too little), and great temperature. For dessert, our table shared beignets and brownies with ice cream. Everything was delicious!I will definitely recommend Southern Kitchen to family and friends planning to visit Jacksonville Beach.

I had dinner upstairs in the dining room last night with my boyfriend and friends. The food was excellent, the service was great and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. This is not the first time I have eaten here. They also have a lovely patio that is very enjoyable on a warm sunny day. It is worth the trip, anytime. I highly recommend this place.
