I would rate this place: 5/5 decor 5/5 cocktails 3/5 food It has potential but it is at a very strange location: a random strip mall behind Bally's Fitness in Southside. You won't see it off the main road. You see the valet parking sign but there's no need for valet when there's an entire empty parking lot at a strip mall where most of the stores are closed. It would be better suited in Downtown Jacksonville riverfront to revamp our downtown area or San Marco/Riverside area. It is a beautiful space that you would see in Miami including the prices. Tip: dress to impress in a classy way or to a buisness meeting. Don't show up in jeans, Tshirt and sneakers.

I will start off with the good…it is a beautifully decorated restaurant and our waiter was very sweet and attentive. That’s all the positive feedback I have to give.I had dinner reservations and was told we couldn’t be seated until everyone arrived, understandable, other restaurants do that. The final person arrive maybe 10 minutes late and they told us the table wasn’t ready. It was 20+ mins after our reservations, so I asked if our table was given to someone else since we had to wait on one person, I was told it would be ready in just a minute, that it was being cleaned. We finally get seated and we’re excited to try the food and drinks, wanting to see what the hype was all about on some social media posts seen. My group was highly disappointed in the food!! No flavor what so ever! I had the wild salmon and it didn’t taste like there was any seasoning on it at all! The skin on the salmon was so hard it cut the roof of my mouth. For the portion given and the lack of flavor, it is definitely overpriced. OpenTable reviews are very much so accurate! I do not recommend this place for a meal!

The place is beautiful, the drink are good, but the food is not good at all and overpriced. They can definitely improve the service as well.

Beautiful ambiance…but that’s about it. Go for drinks. We ordered the shareable bone-in ribeye. It was overcooked the first time. Second time was cooked fine but no flavor. Also, it only came with maybe 6 to strips of steak and most of them were covered in fat.Bill came out to $200 and we ended up grabbing a burger after. Go for drinks, not the food.

This is a must-go! The food, the drinks, the ambience, and the best staff (shout out to Briea - she was so attentive, gave great recommendations, and was so kind!!) all combine to make this place great! Every drink on the menu is amazing, don’t sleep on either of the ravioli, and definitely get the fries!

Had an amazing time at Cataluna! The ambiance and service is great. The staff was knowledgeable and I can tell everybody helps each other. Our server Briea (hope I spelled it right) was outstanding! Made our anniversary dinner awesome. So glad to see Jax step into a more luxurious dining experience like larger cities. Great concept!

Where do I start? Walking into the restaurant we had high hopes due to the vibe and decor being on point! The music, our waitress, and ambiance were 10/10, but as soon as we started ordering it went downhill. Some items on the menu were not bad, like the short rib ravioli, but the Sea section was absolutely trash. The "stuffed" Branzino tasted like it was caught last week, had no stuffing, and NO flavor to it. Also, the tuna carpaccio also had no flavor whatsoever and was prepared more like sashimi. We also ordered a 18$ Brie and roasted pepper flat bread for the table and tasted like it came on CARDBOARD with ABSOLUTLEY NO CHEESE, loose peppers, and arugula. We asked to get it comped, but the owner refused due to us all having a bite even though we were a table of 6 all trying it. Again, our waitress was very understanding, but Cataluna has to revamp the food menu. Having an expensive menu with trash food is not a good look. At least make the food good when wanting to charge Miami prices for food and drinks. Multiple staff members even agreed they needed to revamp the menu.

$160 for below mediocre food, a crappy bottle of wine, and one cocktail. The ambience and service are great, but if you're looking for good food do not come here

This place is amazing! Down to the servers, bartenders, and runners. The food is IMMACULATE, definitely recommend the eggplant moussaka if you love a savory, cheesy meal. We ordered the tomahawk steak to share — it was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Definitely worth it! The bartender recommended the Bendición Gitana to drink, and it did not disappoint. It was the absolute perfect balance of flavors. Plus, I love the fact that they make all of the syrups, juices, and cordials fresh in house. Cataluna is a great place for a date night or social hour featuring tapas and an array of signature craft cocktails. Jax has been in desperate need of a place like this!

What a wonderful addition to the southside area! It’s a great place for date night or girls night out. The decor is very elegant and the bar is gorgeous. My friends and I were seated in a private booth that was very cozy. Our server was very friendly and recommended cocktails based on what we like. They even have non alcoholic options which some of us appreciated. All of the food is shareable portions. We had their truffle fries which were delicious. Arancini, lamb moussaka and the grilled octopus.Let me tell you that I order octopus anytime it is offered on the menu. Not every place cooks it right. This place did it right. It was not over cooked and was marinated perfectly. Totally recommend it.I kind of like that this place is not visible from the road. There’s valet parking and outdoor seating. It’s sort of on the expensive side but what place isn’t nowadays. Reservations are recommended and take your date night out to them.

For a night out, Cataluna is such a fun spot. While yes - the pricing is a bit up there. You are paying for ambiance and an experience. Food wise, I did really enjoy the Wagyu sliders. I wish it had just a little more meat or fillings but nonetheless the flavor was delicious! And you can't go wrong with truffle fries. I think the star of the show was the drinks. The Mediterranean sunset was my favorite, it wasn't overly sweet and it was so refreshing. The interior decor on the inside is no doubt stunning. The service was also so lovely. Shout out to our server Elijah- you were great! It's such a beautiful restaurant with a great vibe, delicious food and drinks you just want to keep on drinking!

A few of my friends have been excited to stop by since they've opened. We decided on a Friday night. The atmosphere is definitely wonderful. It is unique for Jacksonville and will be appreciated! I loved the sophisticated touches with the decor! The service was good, the drinks unfortunately were ok and the food was also ok. I think I was expecting to have dinner, but we were seated at a lower, lounge like table which would be a challenge to slice a steak hunched over. We were uncomfortable but it didn't stop us from trying the apps menu. We ordered the Octopus, Flatbread, olive plate, Truffle Fries (my favorite), and I believe cheese/mushroom balls. All were good. We were looking for more impressive flavors to match the atmosphere, but maybe there will be improvements. I recommend you try it out and take pictures of the atmosphere! We will definitely be back and hope the next time will be a better experience.
