First experience at cowford, staff was amazing from valet to the hostess/waiter/waitress the moment you walk in the door. Atmosphere was beautiful and accommodating. I had the bone out ribeye for 69$. Cut was decent and properly cooked, it was just lacking flavor. It was really bland. It was more just a warm piece of meat. I’m not a steak snob or anything, just seemed disappointed that you spend X amount on a quality place and food was blah. Just my opinion.

The rooftop bar has some great seating, nice views, and a very nice happy hour. The inside of the restaurant is elegant and a great spot for business meetings, date nights, or group dinners.

My wife and I had dinner here a while back and it was a poor experience. Steaks were overcooked and under seasoned. Sides came out lukewarm at best. At any price point, you'd expect better. We thought it was just a bad night so we tried to give it another shot on 4/13. The place was busy and booked through reservations so we decided to eat at the bar. The first hostess just dismissed us and walked off and a second angrily informed us that they would be unable to accommodate us. You would have thought that I killed her dog the way she treated my wife and me. Sometimes first impressions are all you need. We'll be having dinner elsewhere long after these folks have gone out of business.

We were late for our reservations due to traffic and the line for valet so leave early and if you’re late call. Tara was our server and she was wonderful. The Gancia Moscato d’Asti was so delicious and so were the scallops. The Brussel sprouts with the bourbon bacon jam is really good. I’m not a fan of pimento cheese but the Mac n cheese was surprisingly delicious. The mashed potatoes were whipped to perfection. The lamb chops were very tender, the lobster tail and salmon were good. Definitely would come back.

My wife made reservations for last night for my birthday dinner. We had never been to Cowford but always wanted to try it and compare to others we've been to. When we were being seated we were taken to a row of tables against the wall downstairs. We asked if we could be seated on the second floor in a more intimate setting for my birthday dinner and were told it was full and had to sit on the first floor bar area, we complied. In the opening conversation with our server explained how slow it was tonight probably due to poor weather. How is it so slow yet we couldn't be seated in a more intimate upstairs area? Very disappointing. Our server was good and food was better than average but the downstairs dining atmosphere and experience will probably keep us from coming back.

The rooftop scene is amazing. I would go back there anytime for the drinks and atmosphere. I had the roasted seafood tower that comes with two crab clusters, oysters, several shrimp, and 2 large lobster tails. The food was a little cold when it came out but it was good. Also, I had a side is Brussel Sprouts and duck fat cornbread. I have never heard of duck fat cornbread but it was amazing. It had crab meat and lobster in it. Make sure to get that as an appetizer!!!! My server was knowledgeable and great as well.

I booked our 38th anniversary dinner 3 weeks prior to last night. Two days before arrival, I received a call, confirming our reservation and letting us know that the rooftop bar would be closed at six. We arrived at 5:20. Upon our arrival we were informed the rooftop bar would be closed in five minutes. We were disappointed, but hurried quickly upstairs to partake in the beautiful view and order our cocktails. Bar service was amazing. Cocktails were wonderful and when we asked about the five minute closing, we were told no the bar would be closing at six. We were a little confused, but sat down to enjoy our cocktail. Five minutes prior to six a young lady came up to get us for our table. We thought we were heading down to the dining room for dinner, however we were told no we would be sitting on the first floor in the bar area . I was disappointed and I let her know that I had booked the reservation three weeks ago and I didn’t understand why we were not sitting in the dining room. I was told the dining room was booked, and there was no room available. We were taken to the last table closest to the busing center of the bar and sat for our meal. Needless to say, the environment was not romantic and it was not quiet. We felt like we were eating in a cafeteria. Motion never stopped because our table was located next to where every server in the place picks up drinks, organizes their paperwork, and the kitchen door to deliver food to every other table in the loud and bust bar. I was very disappointed. I don’t know what it takes to get into the dining room but I felt like if you make a reservation 3 weeks ahead you should be sat in the dining room and not the bar area. When leaving I went to the front desk and shared my disappointment again and was told the next time I make a reservation I needed to let them know I wanted to sit on the second floor dining area. After dwelling on this for awhile I want to know why the reservation tool doesn’t ask this and allow for this if it is in fact the requirement for quiet dining??It’s a shame the front end was so disappointing, the behind scene food prep was amazing!! Bravo to the chef and all of his team. You shine. Now if only the front end could shine you’d have a great program. I was disappointed the environment did not meet our expectations.

I booked this for my birthday dinner and I feel like they took it upon themselves to give me one of the best seats in the house. We were right next to the window to see the beautiful sunset and that’s the tone in the background. The food was perfection. Not a single thing I would change. All alcoholic beverages had the perfect ratio of flavor going on. You can absolutely melt into full relaxation because you will be taken care of. Looking forward to the next time I’m in Jacksonville because I will absolutely visit again
