I absolutely love Kilwins ice cream and chocolate candy store! Every time I visit, I am greeted with the delicious smell of fresh chocolate and sweet treats. The ice cream is always creamy and flavorful, with a wide variety of unique fruit flavors to choose from.I am a huge fan of their chocolate treats as well. The chocolate is rich and smooth, and they offer a great selection of candies and confections to satisfy any sweet tooth. Drove one hour, found a parking spot 10 minutes from the store on a busy Saturday, trekked through the rain with a cooler full of ice to buy an ice cream cake. The clerk said she couldn't write happy birthday with a name on it, just plain "Happy Birthday" since she was not trained on cake writing. She said if I wanted a name (in my case a 3 letter name), I would have to return in an hour for the supervisor who knows how to write on cakes. I was annoyed but we drove so far and wanted the cake, so I offered to pay first and pick it up after the hour was up. She didn't make me pay, just said it was ok and to return later. We left, killed time in the rain with two kids and a heavy cooler at a a packed mall. Returned to the store full of 6+ employees. When I asked to pick up the cake, they said the supervisor stated the cake must be paid for to be able to be written on, so they didn't have the cake ready. Annoying again, but fine. I asked them to write the name and we would wait. The new clerk said that no one there knew how to write on cakes and they all giggled about how bad their handwriting was. I said it was fine, I would even take a sloppily written cake. At that point the original clerk changed her story and said she no longer can write on it. We stood there like fools. They were playing games. How is no one in the store trained to write happy birthday on a cake? I even asked for a plastic pick to stick on top. They didn't answer me. It was a $60+ cake and they lost my business for good. This was our second bad Kilwin's experience... the other was the downtown St. Augustine FL store who had a filthy wet rag lining the broken dripping ice cream cooler. The rag kept falling into the actual ice cream tubs touching the food and they were still serving everyone. They used to be our favorite, but this was our last visit.

My first time coming here and it was great! When you walk in, you're automatically greeted by several employees and the sweet smell of chocolate and ice cream! The shop is pretty small but they have a huge variety of sweet treats for a decent price. Me and my friend came for ice cream and you're allowed two samples each. Here are my ratings for the flavors I got: - MarshMallow S'mores: 8.5/10 a little two sweet for me and I have a huge sweet tooth, initially has a marshmallow taste to it but as it melts it starts tasting more like cookies and cream - Strawberry Chunk: 10/10 classic strawberry flavor, refreshing taste with small strawberry chunks - Cappuccino Chocolate Chip: 9/10 very light taste and smell of coffee which I personally liked since I don't like coffee but my friend whose an avid coffee drinker didn't taste it, small chunks of chocolate in it, more chocolate flavor than cappuccino

Service is great but I was sad that unlike smaller places like Mayday Kilwins uses red dye number 40 and a lot of other things, I would not want to continue to pay extra for. I guess I felt for the $ it would be less bad chem . However, the service at Mayday at least in Jax Beach is horrible.

ALWAYS CONSISTENT! I've been stopping in here for years. I enjoy my dessert here every time I visit Jacksonville for work. This particular location has awesome Customer service, is always clean and the ice cream is always consistent. My favorite flavor is Vanilla Chocolate Chip because it's full w/chunks of chocolate chips and the vanilla ice cream is very flavorful. I always order it in a homemade waffle bowl with whip cream. YUM! This specific flavor is usually not on display in the case at this shop, but they have it in the freezer in the back so don't hesitate to inquire on a flavor that you don't see displayed in the case and they might have it in the freezer in the back. They will gladly get some for you!

I loved my milk-chocolate-coated rice krispie treat. It was about a 10/10 for this sweet tooth. My wife really liked her cookies and cream sugar cone, though I preferred my treat. Note to self: the St. Augustine one is spelled differently on Yelp: Kilwin's, so I have to search on the different spelling to find it.
I have always gone to buy ice cream there because I love the ice cream there, especially the toasted coconut one, but today I went and there was this guy who, as soon as we entered, asked if we needed help (I was with my daughter) and I answered no. 30 seconds later he asked us again if we needed help (maybe it was because we seemed like thieves) to which I said yes, I couldn't open the refrigerator because I had just taken out an ice cream and it closed and I wanted to take out some more and he proceeded to explain that Once the refrigerator is closed you have to wait for its temperature to return blah lah blah there was this customer behind us and she burst out laughing making fun of me because I couldn't open the refrigerator and this guy made me look like a big stupid person! THAT'S WHAT I SPEND EVERY TIME I GO BUT I WOULD NOT WANT TO COME BACK AND KNOW THAT THIS GUY WILL TAKE CARE OF ME AGAIN SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED! and by the way! You must make sure that the ice creams are placed with the correct names, my daughter wanted mint with chocolate chips so she grabbed it from where the label was that said mint with chocolate chips and when we got home the ice cream was peppermint!
