What a fantastic staff! I play darts out of Shovelhead and have been treated great by the staff! They have live bands, bingo, karaoke, pool tables, golden tee and six soft tip boards! We are in talks to get steel tip boards in! It is a smoking bar with plenty of smoke eaters, so it's not Smokey! Love Shovelhead!

Awesome biker bar where everyone feels welcome! The food is great! Drinks are great (and not overpriced)! The staff is friendly. The bands are good. 2 pool tables. 6 dart boards. They have karaoke. What more could you want in a bar? Oh yes... and clean restrooms lol ?

This is an awesome "dive" with better than usual food. Great drinks. Great service. 2 pool tables. 6 dart boards. Lots of live bands and karaoke and jukebox. Can go watch the games. It has everything all in one place. I particularly like the set up for the pool tables and darts because you don't feel cramped at all playing here.

I've been to The Shovelhead several times over the years, mostly to see bands. My most recent visit was last night, 1/13/24 to see Just Priest a Judas Priest tribute band. I purchased tickets online through Event Bright for $14 + service fee, which worked out to $16.78. When I arrived, the venue wasn't packed by any means, and I basically had a table with about 10 seats to myself until Just Priest started. The opening band was Jen-n-Tonix and they were great. Just Priest put on an excellent show about an hour and 20 minutes and played some of my favorite tunes such as The Hellion, Electric Eye, Green Manalishi, Diamonds and Rust, Head out to the Highway, Desert Plains, Freewheel Burning, Breaking the Law, You Got Another Thing Coming, Hell Bent for Leather, The Ripper, and more. Both bands were excellent and I couldn't have asked for a better show. I have four issues with the Shovelhead; (1) there is no security on duty. This odd guy in military fatigues wearing some type of medal kept dicking around with Jen-n-Tonix's gear, he eventually grabbed the singer's garment that was laying on stage, proceeded to press it against his face and breathe in deeply; finally, walking back the bar with it and stuffing it in his pocket. The guy was definitely off his rocker. He continued to mess with other items on the stage and staff did nothing to stop him. I could also see that the man obviously did not pay to get in since he didn't have a wrist band on. Yet he kept coming into and out of the bar through the side door as he pleased. It's like this happens all the time. (2) The male bartender with the ponytail tried to rip me off. I asked him how much for a Yuengling he said $5. I handed him a $20 bill and he gave me back five $1 bills then walked away. I had to wave him down to get his attention. At the time, I was his only customer and I was chatting with a friend; maybe he thought I was distracted and he could slip this past me. My friend and I both looked at each other and said that was intentional. Another friend of mine was ripped off by the other bartender when ordering shots for our group. She was going to tip $5 for a round of shots and the girl walked of with the $10 and never gave her back the change, ridiculous! (3) Well whiskey drinks are $6.50, if you upgrade to Jack Daniels its $8, kind of expensive for a "dive bar" if you ask me. (4) Smoking is allowed inside the venue. I guess they stopped for a while because of complaints, but when it was stopped sales dropped. Well, there were plenty of smokers during tonight's show and I can smell the overtones of marijuana in the air, so if you do not like second hand smoke or want to smell like a stinky ashtray when you leave you might not want to come here for an event. If it wasn't for these four issues, I could easily give the Shovelhead 4 stars. I would have also returned on Sunday night to see Maiden Mania (Iron Maiden Tribute Band); however, I couldn't conjure the strength to go through this another night in the same week. The Shovelhead is a large venue, there is a plenty of seating around the bar plus other seating throughout. If you are standing, everyone has a decent view of the stage, the sound is pretty good, there are two pool tables, multiple dart boards, and video games available if you're feeling competitive. All in all, I will return again for the great live music, but I cannot make Shovelhead a regular stop. My recommendations if you do go do not open a tab on a card - bring CASH in dollar bills and quarters, do not leave any items out unguarded, and warn whoever is coming with you that smoking is allowed in the bar. There is nothing worse than finding this out after you have paid for your tickets because they are non-refundable.
