Overall good experience. Lovely hotel and restaurant. Beautifully decorated. Friendly staff. STANDARD food selection. Solid. One highlight was a few cool twists on standards that showed local flare. We enjoyed it.

I had epanadas and one of their specialties seafood pasta which were the best dishes I’ve had lately. Not talking about the creme brûlée, so lightly and creamy with exotic fruits, literally the best dessert I’ve had. Compliments to the chef!

Breakfast is Mid, Dinner slightly Above Average!Did my headline catch your attention? This was my teenager’s balanced response when I asked her to rate the food at Ovide. During our stay at Hotel Effie we tried nearly every food item on their small, yet well-crafted breakfast menu (excluding seafood dishes). Their well-crafted small menus limited us at dinner, so we chose not to dine their again after the first night. Overall, I rate the restaurant 4/5; see the pros and cons based on our spring break experience.PROS: Generous portion sizes and reasonably priced. Food is plated beautifully, and the staff is attentive and professional. We were warned by the front desk that Ovide fills us fast, so it was imperative that we booked our dinner appointments early if we wanted to dine; however, there were less than two other families there when we arrived at 6:30 p.m. We were able to book reservations 15 minutes before we decided to eat for the remainder of the trip, with rarely many guests in the restaurant during those times. The restaurant is elegant and quaint and provides a relaxing ambiance to dine. The full gulf breakfast is a no brainer and should be everyone’s go to menu option!Food Highlight/Standouts: Mimosas, coffee!!!!!, and bacon.CONS: Flavor. The food descriptions listed on the small, yet well-crafted menus read better than they taste. The food is not terrible but does not hit the palate as expected. I found myself adding salt and pepper (as did my teenager) to every meal. Their dinner menu lacks a vegetarian option and one of the only two pescatarian options has pork sausage in it (Shrimp & Grits). I should note that the chef was able to prepare this dish without pork, however I’m sure this negatively altered the intended flavor of the four ingredients dish. Their breakfast menu inadvertently has corn beef listed as a vegetarian option; however, it is NOT VEGETARIAN! The biscuits are bland and the French toast unsatisfactory. Based on the well-crafted description the French toast (my go to breakfast item) should have tasted amazing but not theirs; adding syrup could not fix the flavor. Last con, their menu is reasonably priced, however additional side items are pricey.Food Lowlights/Don’t Waste Your Money: French Toast, “well renowned” biscuits. Some of their dishes are seasonal so the menu changes according to availability. The octopus that others have posted on their review was not available during my stay.Would I dine here again? Sure, with my Amex Food and Beverage credit. Would I dine there again using my own money? probably not.Vegetarian options: Not vegan or vegetarian friendly...pescatarians can find a meal or two but that's it. Beware of the food labels. Not all VT labeled foods are vegetarian.

This is the restaurant in the resort hotel. A bit pricey for the kind of food they offer. Looked for southern food because it was classified as such. Not a lot of southern selection. The restaurant was practically empty. The quietness helped my official discussion.

We had dinner at Ovide while on vacation in the area. Nice ambiance and upscale look.We wanted to take our time so we asked our server to pace ourselves from appetizers to main course, she said no problem and she would place the main course order when we were ready. When we were almost finished our appetizers she came back and asked if we wanted the main order put in and it would take about 20 minutes, we said yes. About 2 minutes later someone else arrived at our table to take away our appetizer dishes and immediately replaced them with our main course dinners.Terrible timing and service. Our food was bland with absolutely no flavor. We were rushed in and out in about an hour, all for $180.Overpriced, poor service and bland food. Not recommended.

Meh. Better than average, super great service, but prices for drinks are not reasonable. My grouper was maybe $35 or $45 and worth it. My cocktail was $19 and delicious but it's up to you if you wanna pay that much. I must support an observation. You are required to spend a $16 fee for valet. Not including tip no other option. You have to pay $16 to have the honor of parking to eat dinner. I don't mind paying it but it is sooo money grab to no end. I feel lucky I found a free restroom. In all, it was nicely done, I'd eat again. I would not go out of my way. I'm appalled on the parking. Excellent service. Locals know waaay better places without the hoopla. I will never be back despite of the decent food. It's not worth it at all. Damn shame.

This place is a hidden gem. I had no idea it existed until very recently and my friend and I decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is fantastic. Our waitress was very good. We ordered smoked mahi as an appetizer and it was really good and 2 specials to share - octopus carpaccio and tuna tartar. It was an amazing explosion of different flavors that just worked together very well. The only minus - tartar was extremely small for a main dish. The size was more of an appetizer size.Otherwise- will definitely come back.Almost forgot- complementary bread is to die for. It has olives in it and served with black salt and butter.

My husband and I spent a few nights at the Hotel Effie Sandestin and we had a wonderful experience every time we ate at Ovide. The menu presented a variety of delicious dishes able to satisfy all people, from vegans to celiacs. During the weekend, there is a special brunch menu and special dishes are daily available. The chef even customized vegetarian-friendly meals for me all nights and he personally came out to check on me and greet us.The ingredients used to make each dish are of excellent quality, as well as the wines, and the presentation of each plate was outstanding! The staff was amazing: David, Pablo, and Kelly surrounded us with their kindness, attention and professionalism. We were spoiled by all the personnel that were able to satisfy all our requests!Looking forward to eating at Ovide again!! Highly recommended!Vegetarian options: The breakfast/brunch/lunch menù have different vegetarian/vegan options, both savory and sweet such as avocado toast, chia pudding, oatmeal, French toast, beyond burger, salads. The dinner menu has less vegetarian options besides salads, but the chef can make a vegetarian/vegan dish upon request.Dietary restrictions: There are vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free options, fish and meat dishes.Wheelchair accessibility: There’s a ramp to access the hotel/restaurant.

The apps were amazing. The design of this restaurant is devine, whoever designed this location has a very talented eye. THE FOOD OMG! I had the Chicken Torolini, Wow!! An explosion of taste. Truly so tasty! My Wife Rose had the 1/2 fried Chicken with maple glaze carrots and the broccolini. We are in awe of this restaurant and with the attentive and friendly service Kelly provided. We absolutely recommend this place. It's a Sandestin must try!!
