Sewage smells and loud fansPreface: I’ve been here a dozen times before and always enjoyed. I also called to explain the situation and am writing this review because I was so appalled at how my poor experience was handled.I took my parents and in laws here for a celebratory dinner. We were given a table in the Garden. When we sat down, we started smelling sewage from the construction in the adjacent lot. There were fans on that lot attempting to blow the smell away, but it just made it loud so we couldn’t hear each other.I didn’t want to cause a scene when they couldn’t move us, so I ate dinner and thought the manager would for sure do something to apologize for the situation. Nope. If I were this restaurant, I wouldn’t seat anyone outside until the sewage smell goes away. Not very appetizing….

My wife and I have been to the Bay House many times and always have had great experiences until last night. We were seated outside in the front patio. Right after our food was served a mister of lavender turned on and covered us, our food, and drinks with lavender. The manager assured us it was fine…..and it was to prevent no seeums. It is fine really thats what he honestly felt….are you kidding is all i could think about…..so if you like scallops with lavender dressing then it’s great. We paid the bill and left We will not be back again

Finally went to Bay House tonight (3/24/24). From the moment we pulled up and was greeted by a really personable and professional valet we had high hopes.Next were immediately seated by friendly hostess to what felt like the best table ( corner with view of river ) then greeted by our lovely, efficient & attentive waitress.We all opted for the 3 course dinner and it was amazing. I had the delicious short ribs and was casually mentioning to my friend there was a little fat in the middle. Waitress overheard and she and manager could not have acted quicker, insisting on replacing my meal! I wasn’t planning on saying anything to staff.Ended up taking some of my meal home as well as one of my dessert beignets so very decent portions for the price.I will definitely be returning. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

UPDATE: Bay House reached out and offered me a $75 gift certificate as compensation for ruining a $500-$1,000 b-day dinner. I suggested a better approach might be to not reach out at all? I declined.Dinner for 4 for a birthday highlighted by a server who vanished and didn't once check on our satisfaction with the food and a manager who I couldn't convince that you shouldn't have to make special requests to have our entrees be served at least warm. I was very polite but he simply couldn't accept my feedback and felt that arguing with a customer was helpful. The chefs then scraped my food onto a new plate and microwaved it to the point where the fish actually shrunk by 50%. We're frequent flyers there but likely won't be back. The valet guys should retrain the restaurant managers on how to provide decent service. It's unfortunate that they ruined my wife's birthday.

Too bad they make you use the valet parking , its totally not necessary and more of an aggravation than a help. I told them that at the restaurant and they said it was necessary as the parking lot is small and the restaurant is busy, but having valet does not make the parking lot bigger.

Excellent meal. Not usually Early diner, but option was delicious and a reasonable choice. They were very attentive but not overt. We celebrated our 53rd wedding anniversary and was treated to a glass of champagne and a painted commerative oyster shell. Very memorable and special. What a top shelf restaurant!!

Pains my heart after near thirty years of coming here to leave a scathing review. We ordered a shrimp appetizer at 24.00 expecting what we’d had before, prawns served on ice with cocktail saiuce on the side, Instead, what we received was six tired shellfish instead, what we received was six tired, room temperature shrimp that were no more impressive. Then you would receive at your local grocery store at best. They were large shrimp.. My companion ordered a meal consisting of a fillet potatoes and beans the potatoes and beans she never got to because after her first bite of a nearly raw steak that was ordered medium rare she was done.. when the waitress delivered her cosmopolitan, I’m assuming the bartender never shook the flask and neither did the server once before pouring, imagine how yummy that was.. The reason this will be my last time here personally is the surf and turf, granted I could get away with the nearly raw steak because I can eat my steak that way. My breaking point was the lobster tail of my $85 entrée. It was so raw it was still translucent. My recommendation is the restaurant sell to whoever is building that monstrosity next-door to you. You’ve lost two customers for as long as you can keep that place up and running with less than clam shack standards. I must say again it pains my heart more than you know to leave this review. Was just informed The uneaten fillets that were brought back to the house will be cut up tomorrow and become part of breakfast and dinner for the two dogs. Bayhouse, whatever God you worship, thank it dogs don’t use smart phones

Food was just okay, they are more expensive than other prix fix menus from other restaurants, and did not include a glass of wine. I would go back to eat in the bar area as I liked their entertainment, wasn't overly loud.

We were visiting Naples, and this was our first time at The Bay House. The waiter was professional but 1) over-hyped the special we both ordered as it was very ordinary, and 2) his apron needed to be changed because it emanated a very strong, unpleasant odor. As the bus boy cleared the table next to us, he lost control of the entire tray, and as it crashed to the floor much of the contents (tableware, utensils, food, seafood shells, ice, water, etc.) spilled onto me and my wife. The smelly liquid contents drenched one side of me and my wife, her jacket on the back of her chair and the outside and inside of her purse. No big deal. Accidents happen. In most establishments the management would be there to apologize and offer some form of compensation. I had to find the floor manager followed by the general manager who only offered to comp our desert and presented a comp dry cleaning certificate to a local business. We were flying home the next morning, and me, my wife, and our clothing were all washable. As my wife was cleaning her purse the next day, she found an oyster shell and small spoon in her purse. Draw your own conclusions.

Read many of the reviews. Folks look around you this area is extremely busy! If your table is not ready for ten or twenty minutes maybe the folks ahead of you ordered an after dinner cocktail and the staff is doing their best to accommodate all without being rude. Dined there tonight and everything was excellent like it has been for many years. Service, food, drinks, valet parking! One of our favorites!
