Well done, Banana Leaf! We lunched here today and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Had cutlets, chicken pastry and veg roti for appetizers. Mutton Lamprais and traditional rice and curry (awesome mango curry!) for entrees. Finished with chocolate biscuit pudding and warm rum bread pudding (Super Yum!). All excellently done. Spice level was medium, meaning spicy, but not overly so. Staff provided service with a smile and Nilanga the owner himself came and chatted with us and helped us choose the food. Portions were generous. We ordered more Sri Lankan ‘shorteats’ to take back with us. What a delight! Please keep up the good work. We will be back!

My wife was really excited to show me this place and its food since she met the owner at a one of the Pop-up Saturday markets in Winter Haven. We drove the 1 hour and 30 minutes to come here to eat just to find the place completely close at 5 PM. Hours online both on google and their website says they close at 6-0630 PMThere were no store hours listed on the front of the store or signs saying anything. I get it small business have things happen but being on top of your business hours specially when you’re marketing your restaurant far and wide can leave a lot of people mad and disappointed when they take the time out of their day to drive out to you. I’m leaving 2 stars for now and hope to get the chance to experience this restaurant next time I can be sure they will be open.

This was the best food and experience ever. You could taste the love he put into his food. He is so friendly. If you're not sure what to get, just let him suggest something for you. It's all good so you can't go wrong! Also, order dessert! It's delicious!

Such a unique experience to try out a not very well known cuisine. These are the small pop and pop places that are worth every penny. They are sharing the food of an under represented group. The food was amongst the most flavorful I've had in a long time and was very well cooked. Be warned the food can be on the spicier side but nothing some yogurt / rice can't cool down. The chef and owner and his wife were very attentive and did a great job explaining the different dishes. The portions were more than ample and I found it to be a great value.

Hey friends! ? Just had the most amazing Sri Lankan feast with my wife today and had to share! ? It was a totally new experience for us, but boy, did we love it! ? The restaurant food came to find us at the Winter Haven downtown's market. Banana Leaf, is an absolute gem from Orlando! It's safe to say that it has quickly become one of our all-time faves. ? We're already planning to work our way through their entire menu, one delicious dish at a time! Can't wait to go back! I recently (Oct 22) take away ordered two fish buns, a chicken lamp rice and a chicken rice and curry from this Sri Lankan restaurant. I was surprised to receive my food refrigerated, and this greatly affected the overall experience. The taste of both dishes was not up to par; they seemed old and had likely been sitting in the fridge for a day or two. This lack of freshness was disappointing for me and my husband, especially considering I had asked the waiters if the food would be cooked fresh, and she had assured me it would be. Unfortunately, the quality and flavor were not what I expected from a restaurant. I hope they can improve their food quality and service in the future.

When a ROACH runs across our table while we were dining......I get it we are in Florida, those things happen. But when the owner is aware of it and doesn't offer any discount ( because obviously you are grossed out and immediately lost your appetite) and owner completely disregards what happens and doesn't even offer an apology.....bad bad business and made all the difference of me writing the review. And before you reply with you didn't know, please don't lie. The chef, yes the chef swiped the ROACH off the table and onto the floor with her bare hands because the chef happened to be at our table when it happened. She then proceeded to chase it around the restaurant....never did find it nor kill it unfortunately and she immediately ran back to the kitchen to tell you, (the owner who personally replies to every review). Just hope the chef remembered to wash her hands before preparing the next meal. And although we did not get a discount, we were not charged for the entertainment.BTW.....THEY MAY BE THE ONLY SIT DOWN SRI LANKAN RESTAURANT IN FLORIDA, BUT YOU CAN CHECK OUT CEYLON HUT, FIRST AND ONLY SRI LANKAN FOODTRUCK IN FLORIDA. FIND THEM ON FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, GOOGLE AND YELP.
