Our pit stop for lunch on our way through. Employees were kind and asked if we needed anything. Food was delicious from the variety of chicken we all had bbq, baked, & fried. Listen I will never down their flavor!! These people can throw down on a good plate but when it comes to trimming fat they do not. The ox tails and brisket was more fat than it was meat and it was too much money for that error. I gave it 3 different tries and the fat remained so I’ll stick with the chicken.

Found Angel's Soul Food & BBQ by chance, as I was on my way to Meriwether Farms to pick up some fresh oranges. I caught a glimpse of the sogn while passing and stopped in to check it out. Boy, am I glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed one of the best soul food meals I've had. I ordered the Ox tails, mac and cheese, collard greens, fried okra and cornbread. I opted for the Kool-aid for my drink. Everything was so delicious, fresh and homemade but the fried okra and collard greens really stood out to me. I've never had no collard greens like that before. I think they've ruined all other collard greens for me, for life! Haha Combine that with the good ol southern hospitality and you'll stay sad that you can't visit this spot on a regular basis. I enjoyed being treated like family and hope to visit again someday. I especially liked talking about football with the woman there who was peeling potatoes in the dining room. She was a broncos fan too and told me about when she used to work in Denver, right by Mile High Stadium! Oh, and they have free dessert on Sunday's, I believe!

I love home made sole food and this place is family owned so it's like mom cooking fresh food in the kitchen all there food is home made and not out of a can. I had the dinner special with BBQ Chicken and a smothered pork chop and my sides was corn, macaroni and green peas. Great job and thanks for the home cooked food.

DH was traveling from cocoa beach to Sanford to pick up citrus at the meriwethers grove on celery avenue. We travel on the auto train and Stanford is one of the stations of the auto train. We have been visiting meriwethers for several years now as citrus groves are difficult to find. So I thought for the gas why don't we try some take out from Stanford. I picked Angel's as fried chicken is a fav of mine. We got the 8 piece family with two sides and that came with 4 corn muffins. We ordered baked beans and Mac and cheese as the sides. The chicken has a tasty coating and was moist. However a drum stick was subbed for a thigh/breast and we also got a piece that is so over cooked it is not recognizable as a thigh or breast. The baked beans were too sweet for me just my opinion. Did like the Mac and cheese good flavor. I wrapped the corn bread muffins and we had them for breakfast the next day. That may have contributed to them being dry. They did have a nice corny taste and weren't overly sweet. We got banana pudding also which for two orders it was over $12. Don't bother mainly vanilla wafers, bananas are scarce as is the pudding. The one container had no banana slices at all. So overall won't go back.
